Show off!! LOL Always looks nice Wardster. Prolly a bit to much gear for my tastes, cosmetically speaking is all. I am looking but I don't see it. Where in the heck is your center channel and don't tell me you are using the TV speakers for such a critical sound track. :)

Now, this is more in line with my tastes. Simple and to the point. Simple things for simple minds? LOL

Yea WildWest it is a bit much. It is from my over the top; "nothing exceeds like excess" stage. My audio only system in the living room is very simple and sounds better. But for movies, nothing can beat it. also good for block parties
Thor - what is your TV... I like. :D
Andyman - SpongeBob Squarepants ROCKS on it.

As for a center channel, I'm holding out for a good deal on a Martin Logan Cinema. It goes where the top row of DVD's are at the moment. Purposely built that way to just fit. For now the TV has a row of speakers down each side that I use.
Ward's it's a Hitachi 51UWX20B.

Yes I had to build it custom to fit my gear. The sides are tape/DVD shelves. I also built the speaker risers and all the tables in the room. The tables match the original entertainment center that is somewhat of an architectural design, ala Salamander Racks.

has been cleaning, vacuuming and stuff like that in ALL those pix!
What's a single guy with all this stuff crammed into a small space to do?
Golly. Nice, guys!

Wards, I would be interested in how you built those speaker risers. I need to make some about a foot high for my Polks.

Wards:
I have a sony kv-36xbr800 so I know just how big those monitors are...and those Martin Logans make it look small! Scary.
What did you use to make the table ... 1/2 inch threaded stock with washers and nuts? Did you make the original eq rack as well that matches the table?

My HT system consists of
Yamaha RX-V795a AV amp

Mitsubishi 90cm tube TV
and at the moment I'm working on HexHT as speakers but haven't built the sub yet so I'm using my favourite Decware WO bin with a pair of Jaycar 160w drivers, through a 600w PA amp

my main music system is
Tascam CD-401
Bryston 1B preamp
Thorens 125 TT with Kishieki high output MC cartridge
Redesigned and rebuilt Dynaco MkIV toob

This is my recent update to my setup. I picked up the audio stands for $80.00 a pop at Wal-Mart. Those are my Celestion F2's and Centre. The Sony TV and Stand were $25 at a local used furniture place.
The Faux Hibiscus trees were $18 ea. at Garden Ridge and I put an 8' string of white Christmas lights in them, that is what is on during the movies.

Heyyy I like it though. Who cares, Wal Mart or not. The set up has a nice clean look to it. Good job!
I saw those racks at Wally World right after I bought my wire ones, I was more than a little pissed

They had a matching TV stand for the same price too. The posts are real steel tube and all other silver is steel also. The black is high gloss black over MDF. These are more sturdy than the $250+ audio stands at Best Buy or Ultimate Electronics. The only fear I have is my 3 yr old son and 3 month old son falling or leaning on the shelves breaking the glass. My 3 yr old turned on my Marantz 2220B that are hooked up to my Wharfedale W70C's. He has been told not to mess with Daddy's stereo equipment. Anyway, the volume knob was, let's say, at the 2 o'clock position. Needless to say he took off running when the massive amount of decibels ripped through the entire house scaring him, Mommy and 3 mo old brother.
The photo shows the Wharfedales on either side of our vintage china cabinet and recently aquired vintage danish style walnut dining table and chairs for $200.
Hi, Ward. I thought I read a post a while ago, that you acquired a Yamaha AV receiver ?
Is the Yamaha going to replace some other componets in your system ?

Yes I did get a Yamaha RX-V1400. I use it to drive the center, surrounds and rear effects channels. The Carver A-760x run the mains and the A-500x run the subs. So that means I pulled the EQ (already sold to Thor), pulled the TFM-35 (traded for some Bell'o racks) and pulled the Parasound pre that's sitting in it's original box on the floor. I need to get a new picture up of the present system before I pull it all apart for the next update. :D

Hey, for real "HT", use real "T" speakers!!! Har!
Crappy shot of part of the rig, taken awhile ago before I got a new snazzy Nikon digital camera.
Center channel is/was a JBL 4655BK. Subs are 18 inch JBL 2245's, running two of them. Mains are JBL 3115's.
Fun at normal levels, a blast when a dynamic DVD starts kickin'.
CLEAN and deep bass.
Currently I'm playing with some old Koss 4 way ESL's as the mains. Not enough SPL before the speaker shorts against the grid!!! Next comes a pair of the low distortion JBL sub1500s. These subs promise to do their thing better than most of what else is out there in subs; 3 cu ft enclosure, excellent transient response, low group delay, high output, very good VLF extension, etc.
Ultimately it seems like mid-fi speakers with a couple top notch subs is still good enough for most HT in most home settings; good subs give the system the subjective impact and large feel, particularly if the rest of the speakers are freed up from having to deal with intense LF content.

To show how much I would love to have a rig like that, Wardsweb...
I'll show you my new computer wallpaper. Just place the background color to black, and stick this pic right in the center. ;)

Hi Wardsweb - such an impressive looking (and sounding) system!
But i can't help but think your letting your self down big time with the small TV. Grab yourself a quality (by that i don't mean expensive) projector and then you will have the vision to do justice to your sound :D
Cheers

It's my next big purchase. Looking at the Infocus X1 and a pull down screen that would drop in front of the entertainment center. Then I'll have true home theater. :D

I'm thinking about the X1 also. Post some comments if you get one!
