I gave up watching TV because it insulted my intelligence. I gave up buying on ebay for the same reason. Thank you blaker10 and your "1986" Sansui SP-100's. Now I just use ebay for comic relief. As in item #9740439643 and Q&A. Thank you greg928s4 :finger:

hey, as soon as these drop down into the hundreds I *might* make a run at them...Wonder if I can finance them by selling my Pioneer QX-9900 for say, $5000?

They are nice speakers though.

Incredibly, the seller was perfectly candid in his response.
Translation: "If some ignoramus has 10 grand burning a hole in his pocket, who am I to argue?" :D

I have no issues with the seller's approach. Yes, $10K is very high, but what matters is the quality of the product, the clarity and honesty with which it is presented, and the way in which it is packaged and delivered to the (well-heeled) potential buyer. The seller is not holding a gun to anyone's head.

From his Q&A:
"Competence is as increasingly rare these days..."
Can't argue with that.

You are correct, the seller is not holding a gun to anyone's head. And I was OK with his item description. It was his answer in Q&A's that prompted my thread. It would seem that his arrogance has overshadowed his logic and he loses sight of the fact that people with that kind of 'disposable income' are the people who rather than buy the products, buy the industries that make the products. So where does that leave the average joe? I have been known on occasion to pay a premium price for an excellent product, being sold by an honest, knowledgeable individual, that I had trust in. But 60-70% ? I don't think so. You can bet a lot of @@'s will be on this auction during the next few weeks.

. . . It would seem that his arrogance has overshadowed his logic . . .
He is not only arrogant; he is greedy.

I have dealt with that seller and would call him neither arrogant or greedy. He sent me a scott 233 that was lost by ups. He did everything he could on his end and delivered a prompt refund without question. He's a Klipsch forum member that does incredible veneer work by the way and if you want to check out some beautiful speakers look him up over there.

I kinda applaud the guy and his moxie.
He's got some very collectible speakers and he's asking prolly 2-3X what they'd bring normally. But like others said, it's an auction and if you don't like the price, don't bid.
Sure $10,000 is a lot, but which is the worse move, spending $10,000 on these speakers, which may appreciate to an average of $10,000 in a decade, or $30,000 on a 2006 car/SUV which WILL depreciate to $5,000 or less in the same period of time???
Like everything, it's all a matter of point of view and personal WANTS, not needs.
