MONITOR input

My Pioneer receiver has RGB component input/outputs on it...I have my DVD player hooked up to the receiver and to the TV....it also has "monitor" (yellow RCA) video inputs on it for other devices....what is the point of running video signals thorugh a reciever?

Some people prefer to use the reciever as a master switch for audio and video sources, feeding the output to the video monitor through "monitor out". Many larger receivers have on screen graphics that are easier to understand than the front display, and these are mixed with the monitor out video.
