A binding post on one of my Klipsch Chorus is broken. While I can still stick a banana plug to what is left of the post, I am afraid the plug may fall off, and cause a short.

I called Klipsch, and they mentioned they can sell me a new set of binding post for a nominal charge of about $3-4, but they are not sure if soldering may be required. Now I have never attempted soldering in my life. And the speaker weigh more than 90 lbs. I hate to take it to a repair store 'cos I would need big time help getting it in a out of my car.
I actually unscrewed the binding post cover, but have trouble wiggling the whole thing out of the hole. The binding posts look as if they are screwed at their middle parts to, and soldered at their ends, to a circuit board, I am not so sure.

Can anybody give some advice please?

posting pics would help to better understand exactly what you are describing.

There are many web pages explaining how to solder. Do a google search.

Do not use a soldering gun as they put out too much heat. Best bet, IMHO is about a 33 watt soldering iron and buy good solder specifically for electronics. Do not use solder for plumbing or use plumbing solder paste.

Practice on something until you feel comfortable before trying the speakers.

$3 or $4 for a factory binding post is not a bad price.

Unscrew the perimeter screws on the crossover, pull it out, and look at the binding post. If the crossover is back mounted, remove the woofer and look. There is no charge for investigating before pursuing a course of action. If soldered, most local shops would be glad to install them for you. Don't try to rig it.
