This a little after the fact, but has anyone tried any of the silver cables from White Zombie (http://www.whitezombieaudio.com/) ?? I ordered two of the El Chupacabra silver RCA interconnects to try in my system between SACD/pre-amp and pre-amp/amp. I'm very curious to see what the differences will be to my current AQ Diamondbacks. It'll probably take a bit to run them in, but I'll try to post some impressions after I've had a good listen.

Never heard of them, but it'll be interesting to read what you think of them.

Are they 100% silver wire?
They could be very clear and revealing but lack some mid range and bottom end if they are all silver.
Let us know what you think of them! :)

I'll be happy to post some thoughts on them once I get them installed. I have to do a little re-arranging of the audio shelf this weekend to be sure I can keep the power cords as far away from these cables as possible...they're unshielded.

Believe it or not, in my opinion and in my experience, unshielded wires sound the best.

Why do you beleive this Gary? I ask not for a debate but out of pure curiosity. Just about everything I have read leans towards shielded.
I have new IC's on my list of things needed very soon. I'd just like to make sure I go in the right direction the first time. I like all the information and opinions I can get before making any change @ this level.
Thanks

Hi, Monty! Sure, we are all entitled to our opinion, right? I don't want to debate anyone either - the above is just my opinion. :)
A guy I know who builds interconnects (and is very successful at it) can change the sound of the interconnect depending on the insulating materials. If you choose the wrong materials, the worse the sound. The best sound he can get from an interconnect has no shielding whatsoever.
The only insulated interconnect he makes is the phono interconnect.
I know another audio shop that built their own cables - non insulated. They were pretty good, too.
Of course, YMMV as a system may NEED a shielded interconnect because of the amp or whatever....... . Which is probably why most / all companies use shielding - fewer returns!
Again.... just my opinion. :)
Good luck with your interconnect 'hunt'!

Thanks for the feedback Gary. The IC area is one that I have not ventured into yet. And any and all information, or opinions, on the subject is valuable to me. I'll probably get a sampling of different IC's and make my decision based upon what I hear or don't hear. Thanks again chief.

Monty, I hope you are signed up with the cable try-out program here!
I sent Russ a set of Grover SR interconnects that are NOT shielded (and very delicate - they are silver foil, I believe). They're supposed to go in the program.

I thought about it Gary. I just want to make sure I have the time to try different cables out in a reasonable amount of time. I would not want to become a clog in the drain sort of speak. And by that I mean I don't want the next person in line to have to wait his turn because I can't find the time to audition them.
I'll have some time coming up here in about a month. Summer is our busiest time of the year. But I will definetly keep the program in mind. Thanks for the reminder though.
