I have a JVC Niveco reel to reel from like 1970 that has just one tube so I guess that's all it needs to be tube audio? It is part of a mini contemporary wood consolette entertainment center with tape/radio/phono under two seperate top lids of the cabinet. I will post a photo of it but from what I have been reading here it may be the wrong place. It sounds great and it has an unusual echo effect control but the reel to reel's sound is lower than the radios.

Welcome! I think a single tube counts; sure beats no tube at all! :D
Squid's right-tubes are like Lay's potato chips. No one can have just one! :thmbsp:
Any label on the tube? How big is it? Noval (9 pin) or octal (8 pin) pinout?
Best,
