Well not exactly replacement time but I either need to replace the stylus on the Empire 2000E (about $30) which was the cartridge installed at purchase or dump and jump to a new cartridge.
So what would be good one to match up with this Thorens TT? :scratch2:

Nice European TT, treat it to a nice European cartridge. How about an Ortofon OM-20 Super. Nude elliptical stylus. Excellent MM cartridge. Think you would be very please with the improvement in sound. Or, if you wish to keep the price down you can still find the Shure M97xE for ~$60 or AT440ML for ~$85. All will have elliptical styli.

Yamaha B-2 recommendations plus Grado Red, A-T 95/ 110/120 will sound great. Great table BTW.

Thanks, I am excited about getting this Thorens belt drive, my other TT is a Dual 1229 which came with a Shure, not exactly sure which cartridge model but it has "EJ" on one side of the stylus and "T2" on the other.

You are more than welcome. And, the cartridge is one area where, IMHO, the more you spend the better it gets, until you out-do your phono stage. More so than many other areas of our hobby. Enjoy! :thmbsp:

I am now thinking at least for the time being to replace the Empire stylus on the 2000E cartridge which I found for $16. I wanted to at least keep the Empire alive and then experiment with others but still have no idea how it will compare to the recommendations. Thanks
