RF Modulator on the fritz?!

Hey guys, I have been using a $20 Radio Shack RF Modulator for about 6 months w/out a single issue. Then outta nowhere, when I try to view a DVD (or even just turn the DVD player on) I get those horrendously annoying scrolling horizontal lines. The issue is DEFINITELY the "in from ANT" coaxial and not from the source.

I have tried switching cables, running the video signal thru the 5.1 receiver first and have had no luck. When I remove the cable from the "in from ANT" input (thereby eliminating the cable-box signal completely), the lines go away.

Is there a bigger issue than just my budget modulator? Do these things just suddenly go kaput like this? Any advice is appreciated!!

Never mind! A new unit did the trick.

Don't know if this applies everywhere but I got a couple RF mods at Big Lots for $10.00 ea. a while back, they seem to work fine.

Well, last week we had a major Thunderstorm and my internet & cable was affected. i bet the old modulator got a pulse that F'd it up.
