Seriously contemplating going down the road of SET's, and my 92db de Capo's just don't quite do it, close but no cigar.
Which model of Heresy would be recommended by those with experience with both types?
Thanks,
L'wood

I have got a pair of Heresy 1's mated with an Almarro A318A 18 WPC integrated SET and while it does sound rather good, the Almarro just does not have the head room to really drive the Heresys too loud. They sound very good, it just strains to drive the less efficient speakers. The Almarro does sound much better with the LaScalas     But the LaScalas really sound at their best with the NOS Valves VRD's :thmbsp: :thmbsp:

I have heresy 1 and 2's. The 2's have a ever so slight edge over thr 1's. both are wonderful in the sound. You can't lose.

I have 2 pair of Heresys (freshened with BECtoo's networks) and prefer them over my brothers newer Heresy IIs...both of us REALLY liked the Heresy IIIs at Indy Pilgrimage last year...confused??? Enjoy!

Of note: Gonzp is using tubes and I'm using SS. Since you are considering SET it makes a difference. Ignore what I said in my first post.

Most (not all) prefer the sound of the I to the II (when both are at spec). EVERYONE seems to be blown away by the III.
Here's the kicker: Klipsch is considering making an upgrade kit for the II to bring it up to the III's performance (industrial/pro woofer and different crossover IIRC).
To keep (and restore), I'd get a I. For ultimate performance in the long run, I'd get a II and do the upgrade as it becomes available.

Hmmm... An upgrade kit. Veeeery interesting. Maybe I'll hold onto the IIs for a while longer.
