Snagged a beautiful 2252B and some cheezy KLH speakers and a cheezy JVC cassette deck today. If I saw the speakers and cassette deck in a thrift shop I wouldn't spend more than $10 for them. The 2252B more than makes up for the other components. $100 total, box and manual included. Funny thing was it was from the original FEMALE owner!! Turned out she was a cutting edge audiophile back in the day. I scoped out some big AR2's ? in the living room but I couldn't get her to let go of them just yet. She has my number if she changes her mind though. I love it!! :music:  :thmbsp:

It looks near mint, with box and manual to boot!
Congratulations on your first Marantz! I hope she sounds as good as she looks.:tresbon:

Congratulations. I haven't repeated this in years, but I use to always state that every vintage fan should have at least on piece of Marantz equipment. I'm down to just one, a model 19, but I'm still following my own rule :thmbsp:

That is a gorgeous looking receiver, one that i'd like to snag cheap at some point.
I had a chance to buy a 2270 a couple of years ago, but didn't really care
for the looks - the 2252B would be in my top five of all time.
Way to snag!

I have had my 2252b for about a month now. I hope you enjoy yours. It is a beautifully sounding unit.

Had a quick listening session with it late night. Hooked up my Denon CDP and headphones I forgot I never switched to speakers it was tooo late. Everything works as it should. The tuner section is quite good. I was pulling in stations without an antenna and it sounds on the full side of thin but still enjoyable. Dead silent amp while listening to a cd and here is where this thing shines. Dynamic and clean sounding. Can't wait to hook up my TT!

Pre/main jumpers are missing. Problem? It seemed to work fine without them but will I mess something up if I continue to use it without them? Sorry for the stupid question.

It's OK. A lot of the Marantz gear didn't use jumpers.

I was able to snag a mislisted 2252B off ebay a few years back for $50(!) and have since given it to my teenage son. He's using a pair of Realistic Mach 2's and I must say it's a match made in heaven! His system absolutely rocks! The 2252B not only sounds great, it is a beatiful piece of equipment!

Soooo . . about that previous owner with the big 'ol AR2s - 'ya reckon she's gonna' let 'ya grab a-hold of 'em? :bigok:
Sounds like there's more than just "audio" karma going on here! :nutz:
good luck, amigo! :thmbsp:

Ah, I spy Q-tips in your pic. The essential detailing tool - gotta have 'em. I go through those like a day care center during ear wax awareness week.
Another helpful hint - for the really tiny crevasses, use a piece of paper towel with a toothpick behind it to push it in and along (carefully!).
Great looking receiver, BTW!!!

Beautiful - but PLEASE don't keep your CD player on top of it for any length of time! Heat will kill or significantly shorten the life of your laser diode.
Sorry if you already knew this.
