I saw one today. It's for sale and pretty cheap. Cosmetically a good match for my Yamaha B2, has very nice tactile feel and appears to be of quality. Any sites out thee ?

I used to own the whole Plus 55 series - tuner, pre, power amp. Wish I'd kept them, nice sound, nice looks, good construction. Which component are you looking at?

I once owned the T35 tuner. Wish I hadn't sold it.

It was a four ganger analog unit with above average sound and reception for a four gang tuner. Construction quality, styling, and ergonomics were much better than average too.

I'm open to buying more Plus components too. I think Sanyo remains an underappreciated and undervalued brand.

It looked well constructed. Even when I was much younger I don't recall seeing any of the Sanyo stuff, as I think by that time it was all "junk", or Sanyo decided to stick with the semi conductor business instead.

I'd say the preamp may have been the best of the bunch - better phono preamp than the Advent 300 receiver or Marantz 3200 preamp I had previously, great control functions (variable tone control turnovers, really useful filters). If it is in at all decent shape and reasonably priced, get it and get it fixed if necessary.

I have the preamp. Used it for a backup, will be selling soon, once the McIntosh returns.

The Plus series was Sanyo's attempt to enter the upper end of the mass market stereo field. They were late to the party, though, and just couldn't squeeze in and make a real go of things.
Just remember their ads and some reviews and the stuff looked pretty darn decent, and did well in tests.
Kinda like Sharp's Optonica brand. Good, really decent made and sounding gear, but just couldn't make a dent in the market.

I have a Plus T55 that I found last year, a black, "Quartz PLL Synthesizer Stereo Tuner". Currently out of rotation, but a nice, slim design, hefty,
and a build date of 12.02.79. Output level control, IF Band, and muting.

I just got an entire Sayno Plus 55 stereo system.
All units, tuner, 2 amps, noise reduction, power controller and preamp for free from a guy here at work. He used to work for Sanyo and he had no use for it.
It's my first system and it really sounds great.
I'm happy..
Does anyone else have this setup or parts of it....????

Here's my Q50 Plus Series TT. Slim yet solid still having that vintage quality build. Good lil TT, IMHO.

I have a Q40 Plus Series TT that needs a little work but is repairable too. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Sanyo made some good gear....just missed the boat, me thinks.

Sanyo also made the Plus 55 receiver. You've got to get this guy on board at AK. What did he do for Sanyo?

I second that general praise of the 55 Plus Series line. I had the pre, power and tuner. I thought the tuner was really the feline's posterior. It sounded really good & pulled as well as anything I've had. I don't need more gear but my RADAR is out for Sanyo Plus Series.

I have Plus Series T55 tuner C55 preamp and P55 amp. I will not likely ever let these pieces go. Smooth sweet sound, plenty of power. Coupled up with Allison Fours and I am one happy camper. The amp has liquid cooling, kinda cramped inside the case, but manageable if you ever need to recap it or such.

I'm surprised nobody has begged cutra for pics of his Plus system. I have the tuner and power amp and I'm pretty sure I passed on a preamp before I knew about the Plus line. D'oh!!!

The power amp has a very solid feel and mated well with a pair of JBL L112s.

Hi,

The original Sanyo Plus series were excellent and underrated components. Sanyo was late to the higher end audio game and their venture was little known and discontinued. Sanyo later tried higher end again with the Ultrx series and got very good reviews. Sanyo again was late to the party and left higher end audio for good. The Plus series was proof they could compete on styling and performance. Pioneer, Marantz, Kenwood, Sony, et al had the reputation of their brands which won out in the end. The Plus series separates are especially underrated components and are worthy of attention. Sanyo just didn't have good timing or brand recognition in their favor and made selling their upper end gear harder. :tresbon:

Hey MAXZ28

I found a working Q40 plus and need to set it up with a cartridge.
Do you have any info on cartridge alignment for it?

I was thinking of installing my AT150MLX

well it's been sometime since I've stopped back (but I do get the updates and read them).

When I went to go get the little preamp (almost immediately) , it was gone. I really don't need it, but thought it would be ok to have to go with my Yamaha B2 amp.

Seems the sanyp + series has a few fans.. too bad therre wasn't more of that equipment out there.

I purchased the A35 and t-35 set back in 1982. The tuner was great but would drift even though it was quartz lock. With the volume turned up, the amp would pick up a fm station without the tuner on.
