Any amp that will not play 4 ohm loads at reasonable levels is not worth having.

If you take it easy, but that means some decent output, it should be OK. Just don't crank it up all the way.

Just don't crank it up all the way.
This ofcourse is also to be said about 8 ohm loads

I wouldnt...I feel funny when I have my 2240 hooked up to my vegas...and they are 6ohm
One thing I would NOT do is use another pair of speakers at the same time, esPECially another pair of 4 ohm ones. That's how you let the smoke out, see?
::poof:: smoke comes out, lost dollars (and time) aren't far behind :sigh:
One pair of 4 ohms, no prollem with a vintage Marantz. ♪♪
Well she's (Marantz) been purring along just fine with the 4 ohm speakers. I agree and will not try to drive 4 speakers with it. I been using it at 11 oclock volume setting and its plenty loud. This Marantz sounds really nice.
