Retro Lefty 07-13-2006, 08:33 PM 90% thrift stores, 10% E-bay or local listings Or I guess I could have answered 95% Japan 5% USA Depends on what you were asking for :D Lefty SPL db 07-13-2006, 08:34 PM Most of mine has come from local Goodwills, Thrifts, or that auction site... :thmbsp: Scott Urizen 07-13-2006, 08:36 PM About half from pawns, thrifts and yardsales, a quarter from auctions, and a quarter from a dealer or manufacturer. :smoke: Celt 07-13-2006, 09:01 PM Other than the CDP...built mine. jcmjrt 07-13-2006, 09:18 PM It's basically a combo of e-bay, new, and craigslist. I've never found anything other than records at a thrift and never found anything at a pawn. I've found a couple of minor not used very often pieces at garage sales. I have found quite a few good records at garage sales. ozmoid 07-13-2006, 11:47 PM Oh man, I am all over the place on this one. Some from EVERYWHERE at this point, in a pretty even mix! Of course I've not been actively seeking gear as long as some of you... And I will say that my NICEST gear has come from AK! theodoric 07-14-2006, 12:17 AM Mostly new retail, the rest mostly horse trading with friends, a little from AudioGon and eBay. None from pawn/thrift/garage sales. BridgedToMono 07-14-2006, 12:22 AM 90% thrift 5% local listing 5% trade... jpdylon 07-14-2006, 12:56 AM wow. i 've done everything but audiogon. TankDonovan Donkey! 07-24-2006, 11:22 PM Hamfests, trash, trash, trash, oh and more trash. :D Soundthought 07-24-2006, 11:37 PM Hi all. I must admit. I'm very, very fortunate. I live in a place that is smack dab between 2 of the largest cities in America. Alot of gear, ends up around here. ...Or at least within a reasonable driving distance. Just by proxy. I've amassed my collection mainly from GWs and garage sales, not to mention the various small repair shops that used to adorn the countryside. Though, the days of really good collecting have fallen into the hands of the devout e-bay reseller. Damn it. I can't compete. Not only in time spent searching, but available DI. Oh well..... All good things must come to pass. What ya gonna do? Regards, John Scorpion8 07-25-2006, 12:15 AM Most of my original setup came from specialty audio stores. Lately I've been getting stuuf at garage sales/pawn shops/Salvation Army as they don't make "the good stuff" anymore. All the new HT stuff has no personality like my AU-717 and Infinity RS 1.5's. cannext 07-29-2006, 06:04 PM cart.: ebay /fleamarket/store ortofon spu gte /shure v15 mk3/denon dl 103 arms : scrapyard Ortofo rm? 309/sme 3009 both modded sme total rebuild of the armwand headshell and vertical bearing Turntable :diy my own design and work mc stepup: Ebay /diy Ortofon t10 ,t20/mic trannies pre: diy world audio klpp1 build from scratch amp: "kringloop" ie gw/sa etc/scrapyard kontakt k7 / klein & hummel speakers diy/ "kringloop" More than one pair /braun ls 80 misc ie cables/spikes /stands etc diy mostly using recycled materials that just about sums it up Enjoy F. Small authorized local audio retailers - Original Paradigm Reference v.2 home theater speakers and their v.3 replacements. Medium sized local audio/video retailers - Home theater receiver and DVD player. Internet retailers - Plasma TV and cables. eBay - Parasound pre-amp, Paradigm Reference Studio 100 v.4 and Cerwin Vega PD-9 speakers. Audiogon - Parasound amp and Consonance CD player. Craigslist - Pioneer SPEC equipment. Radioshack - Optimus Pro LX-8 speakers in my first home theater, now relegated to a stereo in my garage.
