I am working on a Philips turntable with an intermittant problem. It tends to jump from run to stop mode for no reason. I have noticed that a number of the film resistors appear to have cracks at one end or the other. They seem to read within tolerances when I test them with a DDM, but I was wondering if they are still stable when the unit is powered. Any comments?

You could check power across them with circuits energized, but I would just replace them as they are dirt cheap. The cracks would bother me. What are the values? I have a fair stock of carbons and WW.

Resistors? A part that you can buy 100 for a dollar? Change them!
