Stopped intot the local GW (usally a tour of BPC) but I notced a very nice looking pair of Realistic speakers Quite samll but very heavy for thier size. And since I have decided to toss the beat to shit pair of Bose 301 II's a someone was nice enough to give me (surrounds shot and one tweeter blown)

I thought these might do for a cheap pair of carport or shop speakers.

Have no idea what they are but I do know the grills had never been off and they are in very good shape.

Listening test later tonight (think they will handle the SA-9100 LOL)

13.5" tall 9" wide 6.5" deep with a 6.5" woofer and 1.75" tweet

Now to figure out how to get those stupid stickers off the top without messing up the finish

They look like they might be Nova-4b's or at least some equivalent later model. Same tweeter and similar woofer to a pair of Realistics I had awhile back. They were pretty good sounding speakers, a little rolled off on the very top of the treble, and not extremely detailed on the highs in general, but they had pretty surprising bass and werre generally pleasant to listen to as long as it wasn't for anything overly critical. Definitely good for a shop or bedroom system, and great for $6.

Oh, and BTW, replace the little crossover capacitor. My old Novas sounded like shit when I first got 'em, but a new cap took care of that in short order. It's prolly mounted on or near the terminal cup inside the back of the speaker.

Those look like an excellent deal for $6.00. Please let us know how they sound.

Thanks for the tip Nick I'll look into that.

I'm currently listening to them powered by a tiny Realistic 2 watt amp and my Pioneer SK-21 portable as a tuner. Nothing special but well worth the fare. They do have more bass then one would think. I'll try them with my Scott 233 tube amp one of these days just to see.

I'd guess they are of the MC- series. Is there no model number stated on the rear terminal board? They look strikingly similar to my MC-1200's, but perhaps a bit newer. - Mark
