I'm putting together my ultimate stereo, I'm waiting for a mint condition Marantz 2330b on ebay and I want to pair it up with a 6300 Turntable. What do I need to know about needles and cartridges for it? I once changed the cartridge on my friends old sony turntable because it still had the original, I put an audio technica on it and it sounded like shit on a stick, so I'll need some guidance on getting the right cartridge and needle for my new Turntable. What else should I look for when picking it out??

Part of my choice for the 6300 is looks, so if there is a better choice out there for sound I'd be interested in your opinion.

Thanks !

The Shure 97 xe seem to mate well with the 70's era turntables. How much do you want to spend on a cartridge? I've never heard a Marantz 6300. There might be plenty of better sounding turntables. I don't hear much about them so either they are a sleeper or they don't sound very good. I have a 6100 that sounds nice given the price. But it's a different animal (belt drive) than the 6300 (direct drive).

For those who don´t know how the 6300 looks here´s a pic from The Vinyl Engine. There´s also an owner´s manual available for free download there.

I had to correct myself up there. I have heard OF the 6300, but I have never heard A 6300. They sure do look pretty.
