I was just asked if i would be interested in buying a pioneer sa9500II amp, tx9500II tuner, sg9500 eq, a pioneer turntable(model unknown) and a reel to reel deck (also model unknown). All of these items were purchased new in 78 or 79 according to the owner while she was in germany in the service and are suppossed to be in mint condition. I am REALLY interested in this gear but am not sure what it is worth. It is the sister of a friend and i dont really want to lowball her because she really needs the money. Does anyone have an idea what i should offer? I'll find out what the turntable and reel to reel are tonight.

easliy a few hun, and possibly more depending on TT and RTR numbers. That would be an awsome setup.
Good luck

Well,
I just got a phone call and was asked to make an offer so i said: how about 500 dollars? I was then told that if it was not worth thousands she would not sell it. End of story. Damn. Son Of A Biscuit! Damn.

Don't be surprised if she comes around to her senses very shortly and negotiates a little more realistically with you.

Well, thats the last peep out of me as far as she is concerned. Maybe she was thinking i might raise my offer. I did my research and the reel to reel and turntable would have to be pretty decent even for the 500 i offered.

That offer wasn't off base -- she could ask for more if she wants. I love people who ask you to make the offer and then get offended. Likely she will do nothing, that's easy ;) Wait on it.

A seller offered a mint TX9500II for $50, within the last 2 months. I did not take it.

Why not? That is a solid tuner, by anyone's standards.

If you didn't want it, you could have flipped it to nearly anyone on this site for 75.00, made a happy Aker, and gotten your wife some flowers to butter her up for more equipemnt.

if it was my gear i'd want way more than $500. of course it all depends on condition. the tuner in mint is worth $200 to $250. if the r to r is a 707 it's worth $300(909- even more) or a titch more. come on, you guy want stuff for nothin.don't know much about the equal or tt but gotta be worh over $100 for both. what about speakers?- none included?
