I ordered new belts for my PF-800 from Vintage Electronics and when I tried them just now there is way too much slack present. The pully looks right but I can't be sure. Need help. :scratch2:

View Full Version : Wrong belt size or something missing? TrexT 08-02-2006, 08:42 PM I ordered new belts for my PF-800 from Vintage Electronics and when I tried them just now there is way too much slack present. The pully looks right but I can't be sure. Need help. :scratch2: Nat 08-03-2006, 12:08 PM How did you size the original? Its possible that the original was stretchy enough that when you measured it, you pulled it longer than it should have been. I'd talk to the vendor and get them to replace it with a shorter belt -- the fact that you went to someone who claims to know vintage stuff means that they ought to be happy to work with you to get the right size. They are selling knowledge and service -- other wise why would you not just go to MCM or Parts Express, or other big parts dealers. TrexT 08-03-2006, 12:38 PM Hey Nat, Vintage Electronics website has a great selection and all I did was check for purchase the one listed PF-800. It gave no physical dimensions like some sites do. The ones they sent me are about a 1/2" too big while the width looks correct. I emailed them last night so I'm hoping they will remedy this soon. I'm dying to start enjoying this beauty. :music: melofelo 08-04-2006, 09:51 PM perhaps you could try this..wrap a bit of string around the puller and platter where your present belt sits to get the length then subtract about 18 - 20 mm from your measured length to get the correct tension.. Yamaha B-2 08-04-2006, 10:31 PM Try www.turntablebasics.com Their belts work great on my PF-1000/800. Always the right fit. P/N is FM 16.8 (probably the length in cm). Your pully looks right. |
