I purchased an almost mint set of Klipsch Cornwalls II's at a yard sale for $50.00 yesterday. The serial number tags were removed, but the date on the speaker terminal panel is 1986. Connected them to my Marantz 2270 and they sounded awesome with the volume at the 9 o'clock setting. They are more efficient than my Rectilinear III Lowboys.

No. Joppatowne, Maryland. The first thing I noticed was the the Klipsch gold emblem on the speakers. They are very heavy! The seller was the original owner. I call it luck!

Holy Score! Everyone else has been sent packing -- you go to the head of "The Score of 2006" class. Congrats. Yeah, I'd call that luck, too. Sort of like winning the audio powerball. Congrats.
I suggest you post pics as soon as possible before the jealous jackals use that stupid "This Tread Is Useless...Pics" signage.

Here's the photos of the Cornwalls:
01 is a picture of the set with the grilles on
02 and 03 are individual photos of each with the grilles removed
I was very lucky to find these around the corner from where I live. I traveled to Long Island, NY (5 hour drive) for the Lowboy III's earlier this year.

If there were a score contest, this one would be hard to beat! Great speakers. I have a pair of Corns and love 'em. Now you need to get a tube amp to hook up to 'em and take a listen. Tubes and Klipsch - the marriage made in heaven! Enjoy. :thmbsp:

Good Lord! ...and I was all excited when I found a beat up Dual turntable for $2.00 a couple of years ago. Silly me.
Congratualtions on a great find.

Now that is a great score!!! It just goes to show that if you put in the time and effort that your persistence will eventually pay off. I lucked onto my speaker find last summer. Altec 17's for $150.
I love stories like this. It really recharges my batteries. Congrats!!

Outstanding deal. Must be a story why they were going for $50. I can't believe an original owner would ever let his corns go for $50!

Why the seller only asked for $50.00? He told me he had no use for them in his rancher home. My first thought was maybe the drivers were blown. But the set looked good enough for $50.00 to jump out my pocket without hesistation. He even help me load them into my suv. I call this luck, pure luck!

Get a low power tube amp and you will put the 2270 in your garage system. Cornwalls want to be fed with low power tubes. Try it, you won't believe the sound.

I just acquired a Sony 7065a receiver and the cornwalls are singing! I'll wait until next year before I pull the string on a tube unit.

Nice score! You didn't try and talk him down? :D
May I throw my entry into the ring? Over the last three years, the local dump/recycling center has provided a pair of KG4s, Heresys, Ohm Walsh 4s that need work, and just yesterday some Realistic Mach Ones. You guys don't even want to hear about the electronics...

This is just the "respectable" stuff. Also got a bunch of recent Sony/Denon/Onkyo/Technics recievers, tape decks, and CD changers (including a 100). None of it stolen as far as I know. Talked with a lot of the owners. Most of it works fine.

I'm a little mixed. Some of them have had weird quality problems, like arcing power switches. The smaller units seem short on bass. The 7250 is excellent.

Man, who says miracles never happen! And just around the corner, too.
Buy me a lotto ticket...with luck this good, I'm sure to be a winner!
Enjoy your Cornwalls (the original owner must've not known what they're really worth, obviously).
I found a pair in good condition for $50.00 in July. Just re-oiled the wood and replaced the grill cloth. Beautiful and sound GREAT! I'm a major garage saler and have had many speakers (JBL 88, old Altec, old Pioneer, Lots of Sansui's and even a pair of magnaplane this past summer $30) but never thought I'd run across a pair of Klipsch. Actually found two this year. The other was a pair of Korner Horns but I didn't buy them ($1000.00 and one bad 15"). The really odd thing is I didn't find the Cornwalls until around 10:00 AM. They were there all morning!! I've been looking at info on AudioKarma for a while but only recently signed up. For all those I've sponged information off of in the past - THANKS!

Just a couple weeks ago I got two McIntosh ML-1C and two ML-2C speakers for $225. Needs tweeters but they're in decent shape.
