Hi, I am considering these two models, RF82 or RF83, is it worth paying amost twice as more for the RF83, or the RF82 is good enough?

I didn't hear them, but the 83's are huge but sweet looking. Which ones sound best to you for the money. I don't know the prices but i'm sure around 1000 to 2000. According to most klipsch guys like myself, they'll tell you to check out heritage, especially at that price.

It depends on the size of your room of listening.
The RF83 is very impressive and very deep, they need to be taken away from walls.
The RF82 is much easier to use, as well with electronics in transistore as in tubes.

I'm sorry but after owning many two ways I fine anytime the woofer gets over 7in the mids get reticent more or less not as involving for me. The Heritage series are three ways! Also I feel the networks on the Heritage series need up grading especially the LaScala which I prefer the ALK crossover which you can rebuild yourself for about 250-300$ I also like Bob Crites Autotransformer's and his Titanium tweeters both are very reasonable. For the money Fortes offer a small foot print and are very extended in the bass the stock crossover networks are listenable and can be greatly enhanced for a performance level that will rival even the best of Klipsch's IMO.

Can't disagree, but one way to overcome is to bi-amp with a quality powered sub with a hi-pass filter. You eliminate the mid having to reproduce both mid range and bass frequencies at the same time resulting in harmonic distortion as well as other problems.

Well at least a pair of Jubs was not suggested.......that's some progress....

Have you heard either the RF82s or RF83s or are you advocating a move to Fortes based on your prior experience with other two ways?

Yes, I have a preference for the Heritage sound (Khorns, LaScalas, Belles, Corns) and even some non-Heritage three-ways (Fortes, Chorus). And yes, I've owned Fortes, and I think that they are one of the most underrated Klipsch speakers ever.

But, the latest Reference and other Heritage (or even non-Heritage) three-ways are pretty different sounding from each other. Very much apples and oranges.:scratch2: If we are suggesting oranges, I'd suggest to forego the modded Fortes and go straight to preowned Klipschorns instead.

I've also owned a variety of the Reference series and really loved some of them. I disagree that the Reference eights do not do the midrange well. Many should hear a pair of RB75s on a nice setup.

As to the question asked, the RF82s that I've heard sounded more balanced than the RF83s to my ears, which sounded too laid back and also a little bit thin. The three eights might have been ok in another application, e.g. had they been paired with a larger horn up top.

My personal preference would be for the RF82s unless that is not enough speaker for you.

I love my RF-83s. Other than the tinnitus they've given me. More than I'd bargained for. Quite loud with an Mc-252. Like the old saying, beware of what you ask for, you just may get it. My stupidity, no doubt. In a 12X20 room you'll get hurt as I did if you crank it. My ears ring day and night incessantly. Not the most pleasant experience.
