What upper end gear was available in champagne? Cassette decks, amps, tuners, signal processors, etc. I already have a nice PL-L800 turntable, and would like to put together a nice system to match. The Champagne period was so brief, and not to popular in the US, this could be quite a challenge.

Why champagne in the first place? I am guessing that it was the Phase Linear influence, since Pioneer acquired Phase Linear in the neighborhood of that time.

Maybe Siamac could chime in with some pics, since champagne was more popular in Europe...

Enjoy,
Rich P

There were two champagne periods.
First in 1981/82 with
A-9 Amplifier
F-9 Tuner
SG-9 (SG-9800 in champagner)
SR-9 (SR-202 in c.)
RG-9 (RG-2 in c. )
CT-9R (Tape Deck) ...

I have non of them.
After (within) the black period, Pioneer build some Top of the Line products in Champagne.

A-07 + A-09 Amplifiers

PD-77 + PD-95 CD-Players

D-07 + D-08 Dat-Taperecorders

CT-95 Taperecorder ........

Siamac is correct.

The second champagne period was around 1992, as illustrated with the A-09:

Here's my champagne system I bought back in 83. The speakers are also champagne along with the monitor 10 II headphones.

Here's a picture of the headphones I took just a few minutes ago. It's real hard to tell the difference, but it is chanpagne in the center. As you tilt the headphones the edge has a chrome ring around it. The side is also champagne. The headphones have gone through quite a few repairs in the last 23 years. The speakers have been changed, 1/4" jack wiring probably 10 times. The left mount broke and I made a bracket for it.
