The Lovely Blanche has been hinting for a while now that she'd like some music in the bedroom other than what comes out of the alarm clock! Here's what I sprung on her. From top: TX-6800, SA-5800, CT-F850, 5 disc BCP CD player.

Now thats what I call a fancy nightlight. Once you turn all those on you are gonna be blessed in a nice blue glow. I LOVE IT. :thmbsp:

Hellofa bedroom setup if you ask me. What are you using for speakers?

Bogframe, how about putting a cherry on the top of this bewautiful system?

Get her an audio timer for $25 or less. There is nothing more pleasant than waking up with the sound of the beautiful music or getting to sleep with the music automatically being powered off.

I agree with Bob.
Got a SX-780 with a turntable in the bedroom, and it was alright. But we like to listen to music as we go to sleep and it was a drag to get up, JUST as you are falling asleep, to turn off the stereo. So, went out and got a JT-215. Now we can fall asleep without worry that the stereo will overheat and kill us all, instead of providing great music.

edit: Sorry I didn't mention it, but you do have a really sweet setup for the bedroom. :thmbsp:

The Lovely Blanche (Who, BTW was born in Sudbury, ONT) told me in no uncertain terms that we had to have reasonable speakers in the bedroom. These are what she deems reasonable.http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/Bogframe/92_1_b.jpg
The timer is a great idea, I actually broached the subject last night as I got out of a warm, comfy bed to turn the beast off. I just put in a bid on a DT-501. It should look good with the rest of the stack;).

Boggy, your bedroom system looks great. Nothing like a vintage system with a high WAF. :music:

She just read this thread, including the part about bidding on the timer. I'm told that if I buy ONE MORE COMPONENT I'll be singing higher than James F@#king Blunt

Dear Lovely Blanche,
The day I brought home my Digital Timer model 400, my girlfriend asked me, "Oh come on now. Don't you think you have enough junk?" Then I hooked it up and demonstrated the functions of the Digital Timer.
She loves it. It is her personal favorite piece in my collection. You see, she loves listening to music as she falls asleep, but always hated having to turn off the stereo. After we got the Digital Timer, she can fall asleep totally in comfort knowing the timer will do all the work.
Trust us, oh Lovely Blanche, the Digital Timer will be a good, solid buy.
Thank you for your time, and have a good day.
Craig

Agreed, my wife really loves the fact that the bedroom system is hooked up to a DT-550. We never have to worry about turning off anything - just drift off to dreamland!

If I put more than a reciever on my sony cd changer it makes funny noises when the drawer opens and closes.

Hiya Blanche & Bog Frame,

'Tis a nice bedroom rig. I have a DT500 and it serves me well. I am in the process of setting-up a rig in the bedroom meself. I have a spare SX-939. Need to buy me a pair of bookshelves (am thinking Bostons).

If you need a manual for the DT-500 there is a guy selling printed reproductions for about $7.00 includes S/H on E-Bay.

Thank you :-)

I got outbid on the DT-500, I didn't want to go past $30 for it. I put in a $15 bid on a DT-510, won it, and the sonovabitch gets here in its original box, original styrofoam, all it's papers, right down to the warranty card! It works just great! We use it for a sleep timer and an alarm cloc-the only problem with it is that the display is really bright and there's no dimmer switch on it. Any idears where I could get some blue clingy stuff like what they use to protect cellphone screens?

Bogframe,
You live in New York. Try the nearest Theatrical Lighting supply store, (Rosco or BMI come to mind). They should have lighting gel in a large assortment of colors. There will be an indigo in the mix that should help you out greatly. They sell them in 2' by 3' sheets I believe.

To anyone who has a DT-400, is there some sort of bypass function, so that I can run it without it timing on/off. I'd like to pick one of these up.

Thanks

Ya, I own one, but I don't quite understand the question. Are you wondering if you can just use it as a clock and not have the automatic turning on and turning off happen? The answer to that is yes. Let me know what you think.

Yup, that's what i was asking. I just didn't want to be constrained to running my gear from 7 am to 10 pm, and then have everything shut off at 10pm even if i still wanted to use it.

Having checked the completed items prices of the DT-400, I may just have to go for a DT-550 although it doesn't look nearly as good :thumbsdn:

Ya, the prices for the DT-400 has jumped in the last 6 months. I origionally got mine for $35 shippped, including the origional instructions. Now they are going from $50 to $125. It's crazy.

And I know what you mean with the 550 not looking as good. There is something about the 400 that just looks good.

Good luck!

Would that be the old fashioned cellophane stuff, or the clingy stuff...BTW, what IS that clingy stuff called?

Bog,
Check out this website: http://www.rosco.com/us/filters/roscolux.asp
That is the stuff I used on my own, too bright, display. It's not clingly, don't know where to get that stuff, but I used the Roscolux stuff because I happen to work in a theater.

Hey, I got a better idea, why don't you send a PM with your mailing address, and I will send you a little Roscolux book that I have here at my office. Then you will have a huge collection of colors to choose from.
