Evening All Was wondering if some one could tell me a little something about this thing,,picked it up at an auction for a couple bucks,, I'm not asking for the value of it so dont offer,,By looking at it its a quad decoder least that what i think,, its used with a turntable for quad records ? any info would be grateful thanks steve

Its a CD4 Quad demodulator. I have no idea what that is -- just saw it in some literature I have....

its used to decode the rear channels in a CD-4 quad record. YOu need a cart that will pick up above 30khz. You connect the turntable to the CD-4 demod, then the Demod to the quad receiver/integrated. Its a pesky format because the HF grooves for the CD-4 intercarrier can wear, producing poor quality in the rear channels. I assume the cart for your turntable isn't easy to find either.

So, its fairly useless without a whole bunch of complimentry gear and recordings, is that accurate?

i could use it if you aren't into it. i'm running the onboard demodulator for my 949a, but i've been looking for a qd-240 for nostalgia/a comparison. pm me if you are interested i a sell.
