My parents will celebrate their 60th anniversary next month, and I'm putting together a compilation (country and soft rock...) for the party. List is here: (http://www.audiophool.cjb.net/1946.html)

The ones in bold I already have on CD or MP3 - any ideas where I can find the rest? Any good freeware for vinyl recording and MP3 editing? A trial subsription to emusic.com netted very few - their selection is pretty spotty. Itunes doesn't look too great for those without Ipods...

The list is at least partially songs we remember hearing as kids- some are REQUIRED, others negotiable... post, PM or email - tbavis(at(rochester(dot)rr(dot)com

Thanks to PioneerHPMLuvr for filling in some holes in the list!

Do you have a cassette deck? Update your list and I can fill in some of the blanks and send you a cassette or a minidisc. Sorry, I can't burn or convert to MP3.

I went to RIT or more affectionately known to us as aSHIT - South Henrietta

Thanks, Mike, but my cassette deck isn't too great - I will probably hook up my turntable and burn a few of them from vinyl, though. I will be using an MP3 player or CD or DVD player for playback.

How are you doing on your list, Tom?

I have some of them (but I am sure others have them, too).
I also have some alternative, but interesting versions, of some (e.g., a cover of "Maybelline" by Buddy Knox)

18 holes remaining, but Ozmoid has offered a few and I have at least three more on vinyl... I may have a few alternates but I'm trying to find the versions we remember.

e-mail me your holes if you get desperate, Tom. I do have... some pretty weird stuff haunting the nooks and crannies of Casa Hardy. Just have to convert it to the digital domain.

Hi Tom,
You would wait until I broke a toe to post this. :sigh: Going out to the garage and looking would be required and I do not motor about too good right now. I would love to help though! :) Let me know if you are still stuck for these and I will dig.
The ones left I looked through this am and may be able to help on your A list:

1951 Kisses Sweeter Than Wine - Weavers - pretty darn sure - 99%
1961 Crazy - Patsy Cline - yes on 45 at least
1962 Summertime, Summertime - Jamies - 50/50 chance
1964 Dang Me - Roger Miller - Yes
1966 Good Vibrations – The Beach Boys - a.m. brainfart, I should
1973 Kodachrome - Paul Simon - yes
1977 Lukenbach, Texas - Waylon & Willie - 90% sure
1980 Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen - yes

Most/all of this would on vinyl, my AR XA has computer duty and whipping out anything I have in any format is easy. I have some B's too

Tom, is this list just for listening, or will folks be dancing, too?

If they're dancing, WHERE ARE THE WALTZES? :)

ps: a good one to dance to (and C&W to boot) is James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James"

BTW, Wave Repair (http://www.delback.co.uk/wavrep/) is worth looking at for free recording. I forget which features go away at the end of the trial period.

Tom,
You've got a pm with some possible hole-fillers from my collection.

Thanks everybody! The list is updated, with the most wanted ones in red - rapidly filling in.
