I'm really proud of him as I see the look in his eyes and know what he's feeling :)

Now, if I could only ever get him off the damn thing! :D

I'd feel a little better if he had a stiff pair of dungarees on instead of those shorts...But I'm pretty attuned to knee stuff right now.

That was just around the yard at walking speed basically. Soon as he got more daring with the throttle he was in pants :)

We got our 5-yr-old a little 50cc quad ATV, limited to 8 mph. On the back there's a tether with a 20 ft cord so he can't get too far away from an adult. Now imagine, if you will, a little boy hurtling along at 8 mph with the throttle maxed while screaming to his panting lard-ass father "Run faster, Daddy!"

I envy your accomplishment, Tim!

The house across the street's for rent, $850 a month.....want their number? :)

(Excellent, quiet, and safe place to live, but depressed home values......)

Very cool!

Can't wait for the post when he brings home his first broken pinball machine to fix. :)

It looks like he will need to be moved up to an 80cc bike soon! Also I suggest pants for any motorcycle riding.

Depressed home values are a plus, if one is employed! Probably not a lot of biotech around you, though, is there, Tim?

Values were way off when we moved here in 1991 (the post DEC era), but skyrocketed later. Now, of course, the inventory of unsold midprice homes is huge (bigger than in 1991, which was basically recession times in MA) and prices are dropping from the stratosphere.

Looks like a real nice kid you got there. Good philosophy too. Keep 'em in the dirt and off the streets!

I'm gonna bring it in the basement and tear it apart and restore it over the winter, like I used to do with mopeds :)

Very cool! Pretty soon he'll be doing a cross ups with a peace sign.

Don't forget the goggles, motorcross boots and gloves. Oh and the shoulder pads, knee pads, flak jacket...

Your title and especially your quote "I see the look in his eyes" is priceless for a father watching his son grow up...Tim, the stories of your kids are excellent, they are no doubt heading down the right track...a

My parents are both from Buffalo. Those houses look just like the ones they lived in. Kenmore, Highland & Parker area. I grew up outside the city in Corfu.

Tim that 350 will be a fun bike! Years ago I repaired one for a neighbor and got to ride it a bit. Those are pretty simple to work on points, condensor and carb work gets most of the old ones going.

Wouldn´t it be cool to install a 8 track player on that little bike? I had a car radio/cassette on my 50cc scooter, and a 7" Seas speaker. The power came from the scooters battery. It was so cool to take a ride in the town a hot saturday night with the volume at the max. It actually sounded pretty good, but there was some noise fro the ignition system.

Definately the "cool" dad. If your going to try and keep up on the Honda, I would focus attention on brakes and suspension. :D Enjoy your fun years, both of you. Jay

My son is a little older. His new ride which should be arriving in Japan soon is in the Photo below. They are doing a hull swap so he will changing from the USS Chancellorsville to the Shiloh. His job is to maintain the Ships Radar systems. So at times he works on those two white domes on top (scares the shit out of his mother thinking he's up there) Not bad for a kid from Silverton, Oregon. He has a couple more years in Japan before he reups and comes back stateside to enter college so he can become an officer.
