OK today is the day I am trying the speaker cables Omer sent me, they are:
XLO ER11 15' Pair
Kimber 4VS 15' Pair
QED Bronze 8' pair

I don't know which is which except I know the QED's because they are the shortest.

QED's

First impressions:

These are really nice cables, much nicer looking and easier to work with than regular wire. They all have bannana plugs on the ends and this makes them super easy to use. I would pay 3 times more than the price of regular wire just for the sex appeal alone ;) Now to the listening! I'll be back!

Ok well I tried all three out on the tops of my CV's playing the same songs, songs I am very familiar with cuz I play them when we party ;) And ................................ I couldn't hear any sonic differences between my DIY Cat5 speaker cables or the 3 kinds that Omer sent me.

Now I would be willing to pay a premium of perhaps 3 or 4 times as much as plain zip cord costs just for the coolness and sexy factor of these nice cables and the banannas at the ends were way nice and alot easier to work with than screwing down posts. But musically I heard no difference.

Thank you again Omer for the oppurtunity to try them out.

Thor

Ya sure you had that wire pointing the right way. You know electricity sounds worse when runing backwards :p:

Just giving you a hard time. As long as it sounds good to you and doesent cost me anything thats all that matters

Thor,

What media are you playing to test them? If it is MP3's (which I know you like to Party to) I would not consider that a good test.

I find it nearly impossible to evaluate stuff like that without a switch. The change is just impossible for me to see without a fast switching technique.

I wold go for whatever looks best at the party. Like go to the auto parts store and get jumper cables !

So you sending those back to Omer? You think I could borrow them for the LoneStar Bottlehead meet on August 9th? Great arena to audition different cables. Just a thought.

Thanks for the review Thor!
The main thing to keep in mind here is that the test was done on the "customers" equipment, with his music in his envirnment. Even if he was doing the test with AM radio signals........... if that's what he listens to then so be it.
Didn't hear a difference? No big deal. That's one extra dinner he can take the family to, or more tunes to buy and enjoy. :)

Wards, if you want some cables for the meet, send me a PM and I'd be happy to send you some samples!

Could be that Thor's hearing is just shot from too many all-nighters with those ball-breaking-raggity-sounding-MP3's he likes so well... :D

As long as your happy Thor. ;)

Well all I have for reference material is MP3's, my son has some CD's but I don't know any of the songs well enough to know a change if it happened.

Sorry Wards I shipped em' back to Omer yesterday, I figured I kept em' too long as it was ;)

What a democracy......

Yeah,yeah,yeah...with the Kimber you can ear all the compressed-trash that come along with MP3.

Have fun.
