Ok to be honest, I was never a Prince fan in he nineties. But I was traveling through the used cd store, and picked up a greatest hits disc from him. I tossed it in my collection and promptly forgot about it. I just wanted it for Party 1999. But you know what, as I dug through that disc one afternoon, I really started to find alot of songs I appreciated. I liked Purple Cashmere, and Sign of the Times, and Seven, plus some others. And I find that his vocal style has alot more expression than I ever gave him credit for. While he isn't going to be my favorite artist, I can say that I will groove on the Purple One's tunes.

I recommend that you try out his first 2 LPs. Now those are amazing albums.

NEWS was a great (and recent!) one too, but unfortunately, not having a big label promoting you isn't going to make you any money. IMHO, he made his most adventurous (and exiting) music when he didn't have to follow the rules from the big labels. But then again, i'm a jazz lover, so i look beyond three bars and a chorus and i never thought of Prince as a "POP" artist. The triple live cd really blew me away, and i would advise anyone to see the man live, he's always rocking the place!
