OK, I'm old(42), but I don't remember this guy. However, I've heard and read many comments recently calling Solomon Burke, "The King of Soul" and possibly the best soul singer ever!

Anyone heard his new record "Don't Give Up on Me"? The songs were written by some of the best song writers alive today, and it was produced by Joe Henry. I've heard it was mostly recorded "live" in the studio with a great small band.

So, what do you think of it?

Enjoy,

TIC

Yeah, I'm 42, too (uh, Base12 ;) )
Solomon Burke. Never was the popular breakthrough, don't think he ever "made the charts" like with a top-100 song.
He was important for the influence he had on his generation of performers and on the younger guys, too.
Was inducted into the Hall of Fame not long ago. Would have some good info there.
You've probably heard his tunes, but performed by someone else.
That sounds like a dynamite LP er, cd

pete, hey, I'm not old
