View Full Version : Longest album title?
hifi_nut 08-23-2006, 01:51 PM Most albums have relatively short titles. Now and again some albums have extra long titles, particularly if the title is taken from a literary work.
Let´s see how many of you can beat this one:
Rick Wakeman - The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and The Knights of The Round Table.
Jorge
Sandy G 08-23-2006, 02:04 PM Rick had an honorable mention- "Journey to the Centre of the Earth".
The rise and fall of Siegy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Good one, you just forgot to mention the artist, David Bowie, I believe. :thmbsp:
Jorge
Actually I did not think it needed mentioning!!!!!
tentoze 08-23-2006, 02:27 PM Fiona Apple has the longest album title I know of. The album title contains 90 words and, including spaces, 446 characters. And no, I ain't going to type it out.
SPL db 08-23-2006, 02:32 PM Not an album title, but very long just the same...
Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict - Pink Floyd, UmaGumma

Drybasement 08-23-2006, 02:33 PM Fiona Apple - When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right
I love copy and paste....
YOU WIN !!!!!!

Sandy G 08-23-2006, 02:53 PM Fiona Apple- Wasn't she the gal who had the video of herself nekkid in a bathtub or somesuch ? And she kinda looked like something outta "Dawn of the Dead" ?

Not familiar with that vid- she can have an out-there look at times, I agree, but....

I'd be arright with that zombie.
hifi_nut 08-23-2006, 02:59 PM Good grief, :yikes: I don´t believe anybody´s gonna beat that Fiona Apple title.
You party spoilers, I was expecting a longer thread.
I´m gonna play with my toys now
:sadwave:
Jorge
Eunomians 08-23-2006, 03:26 PM Wow, I was expecting a longer thread, too. Oh well.
Strangeband 08-23-2006, 03:27 PM Whew, that title beats what I think may be a contender for the runner up by a long shot:
"My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows," which was the debut album by Tyrannosaurus Rex (aka T. Rex).
Sandy G 08-23-2006, 03:33 PM One I liked from Back in the Day was this band, Spooky Tooth's "You Broke My Heart, So I Busted Your Jaw"...
bentpencil 08-23-2006, 04:17 PM I found several albums named "Forever And A Day". That's about as long as you can get, isn't it?
pmsummer 08-23-2006, 04:54 PM Well, I was going to suggest the original cast album:
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/8099/maratsadefk1.jpg
"The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum at Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade", but I think Ms. Apple wins.
OneMalt 08-23-2006, 06:42 PM How about honorable mention for a song title? Shawn Phillips' Second Contribution album has a song called She Was Waitin' For her Mother At The Station In Torino And You Know I Love You Baby But It's Getting Too Heavy to Laugh.
jfzea 08-23-2006, 06:58 PM Genesis : "The Lamb lies down on Broadway" may be the best album of the band
hifi_nut 08-23-2006, 07:06 PM Genesis : "The Lamb lies down on Broadway" may be the best album of the band
I agree, but has it got to do with this thread´s topic? :scratch2:
Jorge
Mr Slabi 08-23-2006, 08:12 PM I thought I had a good one untill that Fionna album, Damm. I'll post my entry anyways for those that like comedy...
THE ALBUM OF THE SOUNDTRACK OF THE TRAILER OF THE FILM OF MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL.
I like the warning on the back side of the cover.

donoghue 08-24-2006, 08:07 AM Sinead O'Connor's "retirement album", she has since unretired, I love it
