We used to listen to alot of Soft Machine in my younger days. I need to buy a CD or two and revisit those years. Does anyone have any recommendations? Their best CD's that is.

Well, Robert Wyatt is hit or miss in my book but Soft Machine One or Volume Two are safe bets or the Peel Sessions for alternate versions of great songs. His solo stuff can be a bit much to handle but some of it is worth the effort. He was also in some other outfits I can't recall at the moment but google it and you should find tons of stuff. Oh, Soft Machine 5 is easy on the ears if you want to start there and work backwards...

Volume One and Two are available on a single CD, making that a pretty good deal. Third is my favorite, though, and after that, well, I'd say at best they're an acquired taste.

I like the first 2 Lp's. Good stuff to see how your system can handle those mighty lows!

Listened to my LPs mot long ago and they were better than I remember them. They were popular in the NYC area. Saw them as the opening act for Chambers Bros, Big Brother and Hendrix many a year ago.
