Maybe it's an innocent mistake...

maybe not...

I think that I smell a rat. Concerns have been sent to both the seller & the bay about the above re-posting, but I doubt that hear anything over a holiday week-end...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the guy might be crook. Feedback says, 563 negs in the last month, 4632 negs in the last 6 months, and 8212 in the last year. :scratch2: If one person calls you an a$$hole, they could be wrong. If 8212 people call you an a$$hole, you might be an a$$hole. :D

The seller is a long time liquidator selling thousands of items a month. Most sell cheap, 90 % of the feedback is positive, and they obviously don't sweat selling junk to the other 10% Their auctions often list the stuff as broken, cracked etc.

Its a high volume business model. Anyone with the capital can buy tractor trailer loads of stuff and dump it on eBay. 21000+ feedbacks last month x even $6 each, your talking real money....

the guy has over a million five in feedback. Ebay wouldn't do anything about them they are the # 4 top seller on ebay.

Maybe he has a pickup truck load of junk Dual TT's for sale.

These guys are legit & have been on e-bay a long time. I don't think I'd buy electronics from them unless I needed it for parts & got it cheap.

Definently a gamble, its nice when it pays off. I bought my dvd player from a seller like that (Trading Circuit) and easily saved $50 compared to what they were selling from regular ebayers. If it says untested assume its junk. They don't guarantee anything and ignore your emails, thats how they get thousands of negatives.

Thats one eBayer I would NOT buy a turntable from, thats for damn sure. Plenty of other turntables out there from great sellers. Don't waste ur time and money.

Maybe the first buyer flaked and they re-listed it?
A co-worker of mine has bought several items from those guys and all was fine.
Yeah they have negatives in the thousands, but also have total feedback in the 6 figure range. I have seen many sellers with much less feedback, but a much higher % of negatives.
I still wouldn't take the chance on them though.

Even though they've got tons of happy customers, they still upset 10%, or 1 out of 10 people that buys from them.

Seems kinda high to me- yeah, many, many happy folk, but a good amount of unhappy folk.

No personal experience with them, maybe a good seller to buy from if you want a really great price and are of the gambling sort.

Well, I'm one of their happy customers. Freight damaged Fisher 500C, complete with all tubes and knobs except for broken dial glass and bent front panel (I have spares for both) for $42. Arrived well packed, and except for stated damage in perfect shape.

If you look at their negs you will find that the vast majority of the complaints are that the item doesn't work or is broken, clearly from buyers who simply didn't read the listing. The reason they're still around is because they clearly state that the items are (usually) untested and as-is. They literally sell hundreds of items every day from multiple locations.

You look at the pics very, very, carefully, read the description, and decide how much you're willing to spend. Buying from them is exactly like buying a grab-bag item from a store...it's a fun gamble, so don't spend a lot or expect much, and you won't be disappointed. Instead, you might actually be pleasantly surprised!

I purchased a Dual 701 from these guys a few weeks ago and it came promptly just as advertised. I know that this 1229 is beat up, that's why I wanted it. The German base alone is worth $50.00.

I'm thinking that they're just so big that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

BUT, I did screw up. When I bought the 701, freight was quoted at $12.00. I didn't check the freight quote this time, & it came in at $47.00! They weigh the same. Well, that's my bad, because the link for the freight was there during the posting.

At least if it doesn't show up, I paid with a credit card & can get my $$ back.

But, it still pisses me off - I want it because I can bring it back to life.

I did the same thing about not checking shipping charges, $47.00 plus on something real light. I fought them about it, call them crooks & said that feedback is a 2 way street. I did not pay the shipping & they did not pursue it They are crooks.

I got a hold of customer service today. The long and the short of the conversation boiled down to this. They can get multiples of the same thing in. They don't bother to change the photo or the ad - just run what they've got in their archives. I don't know what I'm going to see when I open the box. Learned my lesson. Their business is chunking as much junk out the door as possible. Could care less if it mis-represented.

I'm not defending them but with the sheer number of transactions they do each and every day, a 90% CSI (customer satisfaction index) isn't too shabby

There are some musical instrument online stores that do exactly the same thing... just pull photos out of archives, not bothering to take photos of the particular item.

There is a guy selling two pairs of the same model speakers on eBay now, same photos, different item numbers.

Not uncommon. I don't like it, but not uncommon.

I want to see 98%-99% (if a high volume seller) or higher feedback before I do business with someone. If a lower volume, 50-200 transactions, I want to see 99.5%-100%.

WELL, NOW I'VE SEEN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Dual arrived today. As pictured. Got to looking at it - "Gee - it's been fully serviced". "Gee - it looks like MY work". "Gee - it IS my work!!" Peeled all of the papers off of the Dell computer box, and SURE ENOUGH, the original Fed Ex shipping label was still on there from me to my customer in FL. Turns out, he sold it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&item=170022976946&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Somehow, it ended up at the Phoenix liquidator. I'm trying to find out what happened, just out of curiosity. Regrettably, the faceplate is too scuffed up to re-sell, but I can ALWAYS use Dual parts...

The rest of the story....

"What a story....
I was supposed to be moving so I sold it on Ebay. I packed as carfully as possible. Pretty much the same way you sent it to me. I used UPS. When it got to the new owner I was told that the boxed looked ok but that it was damaged. A bent tone arm and the base was smashed and the dust cover was broken.I refunded the purchase price and had UPS sent it back to me. When I got it the box was wet, crushed in places and just looked like hell. I filed a claim with UPS. They turned down the insurance claim at first so I had to file an appeal and then they paid up on the insurance. They then took the table back and that was that. So I thought! So it has now come full circle and is back in your hands. Too funny! I really loved that table and I NEVER should have resold it. I was set to move to the west coast and wanted to get rid of a lot of stuff. Of course in the grand scheme of things the move got cancelled and I lost a great turntable. I guess you got some parts to work with. All in all a real sad day when I sold it.
In any case take care.
Rick"

Well, I don't want Rick sad - I've already let him know that I have an exact twin sister to it in inventory - ready to go.
