Bought this one yesterday and it's on the way. Guy says he got it early this year at the estate sale of the original owner. Never heard of the brand but it looks real good to me, nice and clean and $26 sounds reasonable I think. Will be used at work with a Memorex DVD/CD/CDR player and a new set of BIC America Venturi DV62si Speakers (I love these speakers and they are on the way from Amazon.). Building a small cabinet for the components tomorrow.

Not the best sounding receiver I've ever heard but in very very nice shape. Going back on ebay soon?

I have heard some good things about Allied Recievers. I own a set of Allied 331 speakers that sound great for shelf speakers,

It sounds good for what it is-- a receiver with no audiophile aspirations what-so-ever.. Really can pull those stations in though-- even without an FM antennae, just two two foot long pieces of speaker wire. I think I am going to use the Pioneer SX-737 that a member was kind enough to send me a volume control for (once I get it in). Got to build another *bigger* cabinet now... :stupid:

Interesting that you're moving on to a Pioneer 737 (a good reciever, by the way) - the Allied that you got was in all likelihood actually built by Pioneer under contract way back when. They were the builder of most of the Allied recievers, and the dead giveaway on this model is the use of their 'plug-in' custom speaker jacks.

BTW, welcome to AK!

Thanks for the info and I can understand why those jacks never really took off. Could be this particular receiver that is presenting the sound quality that I am hearing (if you know what I mean). It's not that bad at all at lower volumes, just tends to get a little dicey if you crank it up a bit (this is with a CD player and I am using two sets of new unbroken in speakers to evaluate it, the BICs and a set of POLK Monitor 30s). I'll give it more time of course but I think someone else will enjoy it better than I ever could.
