What's opinion on those companies old hi-fi ? Nowadays they make usually crap (exept Yamaha's, Onkyo's and Sony's high models) but what about their old equipment?
Some looks pretty nice but anything more?

Those Akai ans two Sony looks nice...

Nice pics and nice gear! Very nice Toshiba unit you have there. :thmbsp:
I happen to like Hitachi, Onkyo, Optonica, Toshiba, Denon,et al stuff from the golden era.
Although they were not as popular as the Sansui's, Pioneers, and Marantz's, to me, they sound just as good.
The "uniqueness" and "interesting" factors for these units are simply off of the chart!

Wow! :D
Specs on the unit?
It's not in my Orion.

Great pics! My opinion has always been that when they started to go away from large rotary switches and huge power supplies to small electronic switches/push buttons and plastic faceplates, that was the beginning of the downhill slide. I've always wonder how my Kenwood HT receiver can put 100 wpc into 5 channels in half the size and less than half the weight of my 85 wpc Sansui AU-717 stereo amp. I like the old stuff like shown here... it feels solid, it sounds solid, and there less gimicks to it's operation.

If you like those Toshibas, check out my Toshiba "System 15" as modded by Pustelniakr. This gear was also known under the label "Aurex" and totally kicks ass :thmbsp:
