My father just called me and told me that he'd picked up a couple of pieces of audio gear for me at a garage sale for a few dollars.....a Heathkit AJ-63 FM tuner, and an Eico 12 watt HF-12 tube amplifier. Found a pic of the amp, see below.
Worth hanging on to?

Awesome Tim! You betcha it's worth hanging onto. Anything that you find Heathkit or Eico is likely worth hanging onto. It not for their value so much now but no doubt later. Those are fine pieces you have there. Lucky you! :)
My buddie scored a vintage Dynaco st-70 mk II, PAS preamp and tube tester that one of his clients had "just laying around" at home. They had no idea what it was other than "tube gear" and knowing he's a "tube freak" asked if he was interested. I haven't had the chance to get over and check it out but when I do I'll take some snap shots and post.

Gawd Mike.... Get right on over there and grab that stuff. Wanna sell me that Dynaco ST 70 cheap? I love rebuilding them ole boys. Do me a favor when you get it. Pull the bottom off of it and tell me if the leads off of the output transformers are cloth covered ok? Thanks! :)
... with the luck of gold, it's my friend Dan who's client gave HIM the stash. I believe the mk II st-70 he has is one of the originals. It had Mullard EL34 power tubes in it! The preamp had some Telefunkens, 12ax7s I believe he said.

One of the 1st posts in tubes and I think the first post by Kam in tubes. I wonder where that gear is now.
I just wanted to bring this from one end of the line of posts to the other. AK is quickly coming up on 3 years online. Kudos to Kamikari and those who have helped him keep this place a nice stop on the information highway!

HMMM, Now you need the efficiency of the Altec A7 for that 12 watt amp!! Great score, Dave.

I still have one of those, though mine came out of a console, and as a result doesn't have the nice case.
Need to fire that sucker up sometime... got the matching tuner too...

Another member ended up with the amp. This was my first foray into tubes.....I hadn't intended on trying it out, just passing it to him, but I got bored one night and hooked it up....WOW!
It was downhill ever since :D
