Thinking about buying some equipment (including a TV) that is finished in high gloss or "piano black" finish. The Sharp and Samsung 32" LCD TVs are being consider. Anybody have any comments about this finish? Thanks

I thought "piano black" was more of a satin finish. Unless you wanna be wiping fingerprints off forever & ever, I'd go w/a satin finish..The high-gloss ones ARE very pretty, but require lots of maint, & sooner or later, you WILL scratch it. Just my .02 worth...

The black frames, vs the silver frames, seem to make the picture appear brighter, and more energetic. I think trapping the video screen with a black frame vs. a silver frame results in a more enjoyable viewing, even though it's such a minor thing.

Sharp looking. Shows every speck of dust, though.

& fingerprints.

Matte silver never looks dirty from the couch.

silver makes the picture look a little washed out compared to black. some of the new FP tv's are comming with wider black frams as a design feature because of the way it improves how the picture looks.

as for gloss black, if its to glossy depending on were you put it, you may get annoying reflecitons off of it... but if it will be in a spot were that wont matter then i think it would look sweet

I have got a Sota Sattelite TT with the glossy black finish and I do not presently have a dust cover for it. (one being custom made right now) I do cover it with a hand towel while it is not in use though. While the finish does show up EVERY SINGLE bit of dust it is just so dang good looking. A feather duster will quickly retreive any dust on the finish. Good luck
