Greetings Gentlemen,
I just picked up a Technics SL-1900 TT at Goodwill for $8.99. I plugged it in and everything works and it seems to hold speed well. The dust cover has the usual dust scratches, but is not cracked. It has an Audio Technica AT12XE Cartridge with a stylus that is in very good shape.
I am hoping to use this in my bedroom system with a Scott 299B and Sherwood S-2200 Tuner run through my Klipsch bookshelf speakers.
Does anyone have any other info on this TT and Cartridge? A Google search does not come up with much.

The 1900 is a Great table and for less then 9 bucks your are a lucky dog. The AT 12 was a good cart in its day but honestly I do not care much for it. Give it a listen and lets us know how you feel.

The 1900 was one of Technics' low end direct drive models from the 1977 model year. Never one of my favorites, it lacked the aesthetics and some of the outstanding design features of the 1600/1700/1800 tables, such as the floating suspension.

I definately prefered my Sl1300 to the 1900 but with the a good cart I think the 1900 can sound pretty dard good. specially when ya consider the cost ;)

I have a SL-1210M3D with a Shure M97xE Cart. in my main system. I could tell it was not it's equal, but usually for $9 at goodwill you find TT with cracked dustcovers and missing headshell. I will see how it sounds,

Well, you certainly can't beat that cost, that's for sure! And if it's in such good condition, that's even better. I know I've seen tables at Goodwill that look like they'd been run over by a truck.

Well, I hooked it up last night after I cleaned it up, lubed the bearing, and cleaned the stylus.
Grumpy was right, The cartridge seemed to be lacking in bass compared to my Shure M97xE. They highs and mids were alright, but nothing special. I checked out the stylus under my microscope and it looks to be like brand new.
I still have one question though, what function does the memo/repeat actually do? Does anyone have a scan of a manual they can email me?

The memo/repeat knob will cause the record to play the specified number of times that the knob is set at.
