Attention members: AudioKarma software upgrade

Within the next two weeks, we will be upgrading the Forums software and adding some new and comprehensive functionalities that will make your experience here on AK even more enjoyable :)

As you will notice, the restrictions on server image uploads have been lifted, and functionalities have returned to the way they were. With the hosted pictures of over 16,000 members, there are a lot of files hosted on our server. And since our server logs millions of hits per day, it takes an expensive server to be able to handle the traffic flow without interruption or slowdown.

Since we're looking at a new and expensive required software upgrade and installation and tech support costs (which we're doing so that we can minimize any possible forum downtime), as well as a whopper of a server bill heading up soon, we ask that if you've thought about making a donation to the site, this would be a great time to do so. We wouldn't ask if we didn't have the need, believe me!

For questions on how to kick a little into the kitty, simply click the Donate button on the top right of your screen.

I'll be providing more details as to the changes coming, and the timetable for the upgrade as we raise the needed funds for this upgrade. Thanks to all!

That was more simple than a Ebay purchase,,it took me right to PayPal,,,I just had to sign in and it sent it. I must be to far out in the sticks as it seems things have changed,,I mean a fella don't even need a checkbook lol.

If this thread is a rough indication, about 40 members out of 16,819 have contributed so far :scratch2:

I don't mean to speak out of place here but it sure would be nice to see a much bigger number of members step up. We all enjoy AK and benefit from what we see and read :yes: . For those that can't see their way to make a larger donation, for the cost of a magazine or a few well used LPs at a thrift store, you could be helping to support the source of so much enjoyment. If you are on the fence or have been intending to do it someday when you get around to it, now is the ideal time. I doubt that most members would miss 5 or 10 dollars but with the number of members that we have it will make a huge difference to AK. It's safe, fast, and easy (I heard about a girl like that way back when, 'cept for that safe part!).
Come on, just do it! It's the right thing to do and it matters!

Ok folks at 3AM tomorrow evening the upgrade will take place. The site will appear a little different and will have new functions and some old will be gone for a while. Chat will be down for a little while for sure. It will take some time for everyone to used to this new stuff ( Us included ) There will probably be some down time so please be patient.
