I live in a town (Appleton WI) where nothing good turns up at yard sales or Thrift stores so I resort to ebay. (ok, ok, my brother once got some KLH 17s) I purchased a Yamaha CR-620 for 60 dollars and an Onkyo DX-1500 CD Player for 30 dollars. They sound great, but did I overpay? I like the sound of the Yamaha and am glad the 620 has Discreet Transistors other than IC's than my old Kenwood. Much nicer sound.

Ben, if they sound good, y'paid the right price.
The CR-620 is a very nice (VERY nice) basic receiver. Made from 77-79, and sold for $340. She sports 35 wpc, a very clean & pure 35 wpc.
The Onkyo is a very nice cdplayer! Made from 88-89, sold new for $250. Very solid, you did very well on this purchase.
the hunt is part of the fun!

I think you did very well. 35 watts should be enough for comfortable listening levels. It also depends on what speakers you use, these should be efficient (around 90db or more) and 8 ohms.

From this side of the country, that looks to be a major score! :thmbsp: I think you'll be very pleased with that Yamaha and Onkyo gear. Both are very solid performers and you can get some real nice sound out of that system when matched with the right speakers. Happy listening! :music:
