All great ones, the only better enjoyed for of a performance of Peter Sellers for me was Being There. Though I kind of liked Slim Pickens the best in Strangelove.
Anyone ever watched Quest For Fire? As far as I know not yet on DVD. It is in kind of a grey area for me as far as catagory as it is tremendiously funny in some sections , though I am not sure purposely, and is extremely serious. Drama or Action? Time to watch Raising Arizona again. Little Big Man is one of my most favorite but not for yearly watching. Terminator great effects and the tension of Alien. What are your second string picks? Your first string are all ones I have seen at least 5 times each. Of course it really is hard to beat Bob Barker and Adam Sandler in a fist fight over a golf game for fun. I do like little Nicky a lot and now that I think of it it now reminds me of Thor.

Just picked up "Being There" on DVD a couple weeks ago. Great stuff. I remember Quest for Fire. One of my all-time favorite caveman films.
Strangelove and Clockwork, incomparable.
Here's not a short list:
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World
Bridge on the River Kwai
The Great Escape

All the Disney Davy Crockett stuff
Anything with Donald Duck & his nephews Huey, Dewey & Louie
The war movies made during WWII (politically incorrect, YEAH!)

The only new movie on my list is Mel gibsons We were soldiers. I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. I feel it is going to be one of his true classics along with The Patriot and Braveheart which I also love. If you guys have not seen it yet run and get it and let me know what you think.

Grumps,
Watched "We Were Soldiers" and it is something that you hope you don't dream about at night, it was that good.
Stories are great, personall conflict and humanism etc but I like accurasy as well. Saving Private Ryan was good but the beach invasion blew it. Wind Talkers, none of the men carried ruck sacks. Now how can you go into battle without a combat load?
I read a lot and sometimes a disregard for detail ruins it for me.

I still haven't seen Pvt. Ryan. I don't need to see Steven Spielbergs interpretation of ANYTHING, let alone war. If he himself had the first hand experience, then, AND ONLY THEN, is he qualified to tell the tale (in my opinion). Other than my own experiences (which were NOTHING compared to the 8th Air Force guys in WWII), I need to hear about war, I go right next door. Bud Lourie, 19 yr old Marine at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. THIS MAN, has seen the horror of war. He is one of my life heroes.
It is my honor to know him.

I don't watch too many movies, too lazy to hit the video store I guess. But the one that makes me fall out of my seat is Romy and Michelles High School Reunion. I like Desperately Seeking Susan also. I know, I have no taste. As for older movies, any John Wayne, The Quiet Man is a fav, and anything with Claudette Colbert, she just knocks my socks of, whoo, hoo.:boink:

I dig all the OLD horror flicks(from the 30's) and the silent Nosferatu. Puppet Master, The FIRST Friday the 13th, halloween, Rocky. The sinbad movies from the 60's. and Full Metal jacket, Deer hunter and war movies along those lines. and I hate to admit it ,but I dig Forrest Gump. Then theres those goofy B movies like Killer Clowns from outerspace and stuff like that.
Derek
I love Killer Clowns From Outer Space!!!!!

Dr. Stranglove, the blackest of black comedies. Peter Sellers was brilliantly deranged;
The Replacements - best sports (?) movie, worth watching just for the cheerleader scene:D
Reservoir Dogs, good at what it portrayed, but disturbingly violent.
Let's not leave out 2002; It was GREAT in original Cinerama with BIG VOT's up front and 604s everywhere else. The opening note, aah.

I was an usher at The Kingsway movie theater in Brooklyn for 2001 and some others. I can repeat the dialog from "The Night They Raided Minsky"s" word for word. I got fired for "getting lucky" up in the balcony on one of my days off. Worth it, 100%.

Best Spagetti Western: Once Upon A Time In The West
Henry Fonda played a great bad guy, in fact he was so good that no-one wanted to see him shooting little kids and women, so they didn't go see it. I saw this film almost daily for close to a month on a big screen in Panama City, Panama when I was barely 13. $.25 a day after school, Spanish subtitles, I loved it!

Anyone remember those "They Call Me Trinity" westerns? Terrence Hill I think? Now those were spaghetti westerns.:D
I never pass on a chance to watch "The Wild Bunch," anything Ford and Wayne, "The Unforgiven," "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," and "Silverado." Oh, and "Tombstone."
Anyone else get hungry when those steaks on "Liberty Valance" get dished out?

There was a Fantastic four movie made back in the early 90s by Roger Corman, the king of schlock. It looks like it was thrown together to maintain the rights and then shelved to wait for the big bucks to buy it out.
Here's a link to some info on it.

Love that Bloodwyn Pig avatar! Saw Mick w/Tull just before he split(spring '69).
We used to have a theatre here on Long Island called the Uniondale Mini Cinema that only played underground movies, such as the ones on my list. Lots of Fellini and Bob Downey stuff everyweek. On weekends they had special midnite shows of other freakey movies. They were BIG into Devine and once had the entire cast w/jon waters and Devine and Edith Massey, et al. at the show one weekend. A fun theater that everyone partied at all night long......ahhh, the 60's and early 70's.....

Yah that Fantastic 4 movie was a joke, just like the Captain America movie from ages ago.
I saw and old movie from the 90's the other day called "Nick Fury Agent of Shield" or some such, guees who played Nick Fury? David Hasselhoff, what a joke, as you may know Sgt. Fury was Nick Fury and went on to run SHIELD, he was in the Cpt. America comics quite a bit.
Sgt. Rock was in developement to be made into a movie a few different times over the years, I remember both Bruce Willis and Ahnuld were both named to play him at different times.
I liked the B movie Dolph Lundgren version of "The Punisher" but a bonus at the Hulk movie was a teaser for the new big budget hollywood makeover of "The Punisher" I am stoked because Punny along with Wolverine, I named my kid Logan for christsakes ;) were my favorite heros.
