Well I am the proud owner of a classic Marantz 2270. Ended up at $290. Supposed to have been completely gone thru, replaced all burned lights, cleaned, lubed, and etc. I plan on driving my CS 88a's that are coming back from the shop soon. Thoughts?

I have 2 and love them, sweet phono section, great Pre amp, tuner that will soon be obsolete, I know lot's say it ain't so, but my roomates in the biz, in 3 years the FCC will shut down analog FM broadcasting unless you have a pirate dude in your 'hood!!! You got a killer receiver there my friend :thmbsp:

There are many great old rig's out there. And, you our friend scored one of them. Some folks will say you payed a little much, guess what? They will wish they had snapped it up back then very, very soon!! These 45 to 85 watt 70's Marantz's are going nowhere but up, I can not tell you how much mine makes me smile every day :thmbsp:
Please don't hold me to that 3 year figure, I'm quoting some one in the know however, no one knows for sure, it's commin' soon though, the 2270 has a fantastic Phono Pre Amp. get a 'table and a nice cartridge and play all the LP's you can find!! :music:

Peace Craig

I've had one since new and still love it. Never any problems but I would strongly suggest that, for maximum enjoyment, you have the tuner professionally aligned. Trust me, after all this time it could use it and you will be well pleased with the results.

Already got one. Technics, although the model escapes me. Between me and the wife we probably have 300 to 400 LP's. As to price, I am not to concerned about what I payed. Take a look on E bay and you will find some outrageous prices on vintage gear. The pioneer stuff seems to be drawing the highest prices.

I bought it from a guy that must have a shop as he sells these things all the time. I would assume that he has already done this but if not I can get it done. I want to listen to it play first. :music:

Excellent receiver and good speakers!
I have a set of CS-77As in the shop and they sound pretty good.

Maybe down the line invest in a set of JBL L100s or Pioneer HPM-100s, then your music wil blow your mind.

I am a Marantzaholic, but I do snoop the good deals, but I pay for them dearly sometimes.
Like I paid $150 for my 2270, but ended up recapping, relamping, and straightening out bent up panels and a bent up faceplate. $100 for my parts, so I only saved $40.
I think you got a great deal considering you have to do nothing but hook her up and play that sweet music!
Play on!
