Saturday again.......... son scored a pair of marantz HD77 speakers for $2 each. Only problem is one is missing a woofer and the other woofer needs refoaming. Other than that they LOOK sweet.

I picked up a Sanyo console unit........its a "DC 8500K". Cant find anything on it online.... but it looks neat so I though I'd grab it ($xxx mind you) and play a while. Its a 4-channel CD-4 and SQ matrix unit, has 4 vu-meters.......... pics later.. I need to offload this one soon though, its huge and my space is slim.

Any recommendations for a replacement woofer............what do I need to source? The numbers on the cone magnet mean nothing to me. :sigh:

Given 2857603 in your photo. Your the driver is made by Rola (285) in 1976 (76) on the third week of the year (03). This is a good general list for common manufacturer codes -> http://www.webervst.com/morecode.html <- and is where I usually go if I don't recognize one. As for a replacement I'd ask around or check eBay occasionally, a match or near match shouldn't be too hard to find. At worst you might be able to find a pair of drivers that have the same general look if thats what you want, CTS and some others made the same style drivers at that time too.

Best of luck, and very nice finds! :)

might look over some of these

Be sure to measure the voice coil resistance to see if what you have is an 8 or 4 ohm unit, more likely an 8 ohn unit

Looks like the same tweeters and super tweeters as my 770's, and I'll give you $2.00 each for the vari-q plugs so you can break even. I lost mine in the move from Germany. Enjoy. :thmbsp:

That series seems to get pretty good press. Should be worth the cost of a woofer, if you can find one.

BTW, can we move this to "Speakers"?

I suppose it could be moved, but I'm not sure the other half of the first post fits there, it's not just speakers after all. Just because we only discussed the speakers so far...general seems the right place to post your new scores imho. :music:

That Sanyo console looks VERY COOL! I'd love to have one of those just for the retro value, if I had any space (which I don't). How does it sound?
