Anybody own a pair of these RB-75s? Was thinking of purchasing a pair to go with my Cerwin Vegas CLS-15s. Would love to hear your opinions before I lay down the cash. Thanks Tim :thmbsp:

Have you ever read the article with Lou Reed where he listens (Stereo Review?) to several sets of speakers and loves the RB-75s best??? A very good sounding speaker loved by many...good luck...can you still find them new???

I had a pair a while back. I bought them to use as surrounds for 7.1 with (4) RF-7's and an RC-7. I decided that I don't need 7.1 so I sold them to free up some cash for other endevors. I think they were a really great bang for the buck. They are a fantastic speaker from the mid bass on up. Lots of clarity and sparkle on the top end. They really need a sub to sound there best. I liked them alot in 2-channel listening. I just had to get rid of something and they were easy to ship and I needed them the least. Looking back, I wish I would have kept them.

I think they have the same tweeter as the (then) Flagship RF-7...you should enjoy them and that price isn't bad if the store can give you the warranty (not that you'll need it)...might even show up your Cerwins...what finish did you get???

I'm looking forward to paying off Ben Clarke for his cherry RB-75s I'm purchasing off of him (I joked about a layaway payment for the pair he was selling, and he agreed)! Ben also didn't really need them with all the other Klipsch he owns, and he had bought them from Mark (of JuicyMusic fame) who needed them for a show, who had bought them from Jeremy (capo72)...these mint RB-75s have really gotten around!

I've heard Heritage models before (and still have my dad's Cornwalls), but never auditioned any Reference Series models, so the (now discontinued) flagship bookshelf model will be my first experience in this series. And if they sound anything like the venerable RF-7s (minus the bass extention), then these RB-75s will be a welcomed addition to my SET system (and perfect for my small room where the Cornwalls were entirely too big IMO). My two Dayton subs should hopefully blend nicely with the RB-75s to add the right amount of low end to do my pipe organ recordings justice.

Hey Jim, I heard Ben was selling them, but I lost track of them after that. Boy they really are getting around. They should match well with your Dayton subs. I used them with a Dayton Titanic 15" sub. It sounded pretty sweet. Let me know if you ever plan to sell them. I kinda regret getting rid of them. I hope you enjoy them.

Tim, looking forward to your thoughts on the RB-75s. Hope you received them in good condition.

Jeremy, if for any reason I decide not to keep them, you will certainly be the first one to know. They'll be replacing my Triangle Electroacoustique Zephyr 2-way towers, which IMO will be hard to beat, even if they're only 91dB efficient. To my ears (and within their $1200 price range) the Zephyrs are about the closest to accurately reproducing true dynamics and realism, imaging, depth, and soundstage of any loudspeaker I've ever owned before up to this point, plus they're extremely SET friendly, even with my 8 WPC amp. Their only drawback with my 300B amp is they're not sensitive enough at near-live levels, whereas the RB-75s are plenty efficient for my needs (and I also miss that in-your-face clarity of horns the Triangles seem to lack). We'll see how they compare when I finally pay Ben in full and take possession in a month or two...

Well I got the RB-75s but was leary when I picked up the box infront of my garage door. When I lifted the box I could feel the speakers were loose inside
I qwickly brought inside and cut packing tape, Pulled flaps of box back....there was the RB-75s. wraped front to back wth bubble wrap.Top and bottom of speakers were left exposed! and box was half full of peanuts.I pulled first speaker out of bed of peanuts and there was a damaged top front corner, grill riped through also :tears: the other speaker was mint. After careful inspection they were both mint as described on the ebay auction.
So I emailed the ebay sellers(audio store) and they agread to drop ship me a new grill from Klipsch and send me a refund of 125.00 if i wanted to go ahead and keep.
During this time I was able to hook up to my SX-1250 and they sound awsome. And are great paired up with my cerwin vega CLSC 15s powered to my DBX amp. Im able to get great sound outta all 4 speakers and not worry about blowing anything at high volumes
Just wish the RB-75 was still mint.

Tim, glad your RB-75s are in as good a shape as they are considering how inadequately they were packed. I assume from being demos they were not in their original cartons and packing material?

Sorry to hear that one has slight damage; at least it's not serious, but aesthetics are still important when you spend your hard earned cash on what's described as mint loudspeakers. By all means take 'em up on their offer for a new grille and their refund money!

That's what worries me about the pair I'm buying from Ben...shipping them from NY to FL. Even though Ben has the original carton/packing styrofoam so they'll be safely packed the same way Klipsch packaged them from their facility in Hope, there's no guarantee how they'll arrive at my front door from any of these so-called professional carriers! I wish I could take the time off and just drive the 1000+ miles and pick 'em up myself...

Just wanted to say Ben did a fantastic job packing my RB-75s for their long journey from New York to Florida right before Christmas. They were carefully packed with extra styrofoam and heavy-duty cardboard on all corners, top, bottom, and sides to prevent gouges and punctures, and arrived unscathed and in excellent condition! If only more sellers would take the time out to safely and securely package their items before handing them over to freight carriers, there would be far less damage claims filled out (and many more satisfied buyers totally happy with their purchases).

And the RB-75s sounds as great as they look!:thmbsp:
