My response was sort of facetious. Sort of. The LF14 was a contemporary of the speakers you have. It's basically the "bass bin" of an RTA-12: two 6-1/2" woofers loaded with a 12" PR. I happen to have one in the basement :-)

Actually the Monitor 10, and even 7, are capable of some pretty impressive LF... but maybe not of the HT, "that blowed up real good" type.

EDIT:
Take a look at this thread (EDIT: these threads) at Polk:

You are going to have to do a lot of reading on your own on the web. A non powered sub is more reading Vs. powered subs. You will need a lot of watts to power a sub w/o a built in plate amplifier. Good luck! John

can I ask, why go nonpowered sub in what appears to be a home theater set up (I assume since you have a center channel)? a powerred sub would drastically increase your options.

really because i dont need a powered sub, i have a dedicated amp for the fronts/one for the rears/1 for the center/and one for the sub....i guess i could store the one for the sub away for a rainy day.....

I'm using a JBL PB12 with my 10s and 4s. It has a bad rep because of problems with the amp, but it's been good for me.
