Hey all:

A few years ago when my 1990 vintage Panasonic VCR went south - don't remember the model, but it was (for the time) an expensive, feature-laden 4-head hifi model - I bought a refurbished JVC HRS-4600U after trying out several new machines and finding them all flimsy and poor performers. I was never really happy with the JVC; a few weeks after receiving it I had to have it serviced (under warranty) and I never felt that the picture in VHS mode was as good as my old Panasonic. Now after 4 years the JVC is acting buggy and I don't intend to pay to have it serviced, I'd rather look for an inexpensive secondhand unit. Problem is, I now have a lot of tapes recorded in SVHS and SVHS-ET; so I'm stuck with finding a SVHS player. Are there any you'd especially recommend, that I should keep my eyes out for? I'm particularly interested in knowing if anybody has experience of these models:

Panasonic AG-1830
Philips VR960BPH
Mitsubishi 781

As I've seen them for sale of recent.Any others that are reliable and good quality?

Thanks

Roy
