I took the backs off to install the capacitors Mr. Crites sent. One is stuffed with about a peck of pink fiber, one is empty. Which is original? Stuffed or unstuffed? Is it important to match the stuffing material if I stuff the empty one?

Should be no stuffing in a Heresy from the factory.

Mr. Crites is right. The only "stuffing" of any sort would be in H-2's, and it would only be a square piece of gray foam rubber about 1/2" thick that bends around the woofer top, between the woofer and the mid-horn. One pair I had, had it, one pair was missing one side from someone messin' round inside.

The caps are installed. When I took the stuffing out I saw that the upper horn on the stuffed speaker is not a K-77-M, as in the other speaker. It is some plastic thing that was clearly cut down to fit, but the connections are nicely soldered. No mfg. name is visible. Also, the woofer was frozen in place. I worked the cone loose by pushing on it, but it is still rubbing on something and makes a distorted sound when a clear tone is played through it.

So, are k-77-m or replacements available? And what to do about the woofer? I thought I might cut the dust cap off and see if I could see a mud dauber nest, or something.

If you have any ideas, thanks.

Send me an email about tweeters. I have some rebuilt K-77Ms and some new replacements for them.
