I never thought that! Take a look at a Monitor Audio iDeck, also.

While I'm at it, I moved this thread from General into the iPod subforum. :music:

No wonder I had to use search to find it.

Ah yes, that warm tube sound applied to MP3s!

Gee, this might mean I'm not crazy afterall for playing my iPod through a Mc MX-110, pair of MC-30's and out through some Klipsch CF-4's? Sure sounds good to me, though I still love other sources, the iPod sure makes it easy for tunes over records or single play CD's too. I must be getting lazy in my old age? Don't enjoy jumping up changing LP's or CD's as often as I did when I was a young man. Now might be the time to look into one of those fancy remote thingys too !!! :-)

My buddy has an iPod nano and as long as the MP3 is decent quality, the thing sounds surprisingly good hooked up to an AUX input. It's quite a sleek little gadget. Nice screen - even displays album art.

And believe me...it is extremely painful for me to say that. I ALMOST considered buying one....but while they are good...my $200+ is better spent elsewhere.

You guys should have seen the pic on Audiogon when my Yamaha amp was being offered. Monstrously large speakers, the Yammi on the floor.. and the sole source component was an iPod. I wonder if the guy sold the amp thinking the iPod was not to blame for lousy sound:D...

So how much American is that iPod deck anyway?

Not frequently but on occasion I will connect my iPod to my vintage system to listen to some music that I don't have on CD. It sounds fine as long as the songs aren't ripped at 128 kbs.

Ripped at 256 or higher, I'm quite hapy with my tunes on my iPod. I use it as a music server when in bed.

They are a godsend when you are sick, or have a disabling injury.

iPods are perfectly fine.

Use the Apple Lossless codec.

I use mine extensively. (Yes, I bought another a couple weeks ago)

Audiophiles stay away from the iPod due to the crappy internal DAC, not the lack of accessories. The company I work for is just about to unveil a new dock that will be the only one on the market to offer true digital output. It'll be coming out at CES... and it'll be the coolest little thing you've seen in a long time.

I was just surfing forums and wanted to throw in my .02
