I just picked up a cassette tape of Donald Fagen's Kamakiriad the other day, and I noticed that it had a sticker on the back that read, "Digalog: Superior Quality Sound". I know that the word "Digalog" is play on the words digital and analog, but what exactly makes it different then the way most tapes were mastered? Was this process only used on tapes? Were any other albums recorded this way? Does it really sound better than normal mastering?
Thanks!
