Just wondering how everyone is doing today on November 10th, 2006.

Good day for me. It's friday and I am working until noon, then calling a banker about buying a house within the next year. It would be my first one.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day.

Owning your first home is truly one of life's milestones. The feeling you will get when you walk in and lock the door behind you, even if there isn't a stick of furniture in it yet, is just magical.

Good luck!

And no landlord, plus you can play your stereo a bit louder.

Just another 16 hour work day, to be followed by 5 more days of at least 16 hours or more, blah blah blah blah. Congrats, owning a house is one of the smartest things you'll ever do.

Its Friday, I have several big designs coming along nicely at work, I'm doing some trail riding with my bro on our mountain bikes tomorrow and taking some vids, cranking up the tunes tonight with a cold 6-pack, maybe an AK get-together later in the weekend. Just need to get through the day. Congrats on the house!!!

Fernzee, you will love owning your own place. If the buying process gets a "little" stressful, you should know that happens to everyone - don't be afraid to dump some of it on your agent, who should be used to it! Then sit back, have a beer if so inclined, and keep at it until you have the place that's right for you. Good luck!

I'm fine thank you, but if I have to rake up one more leave or pine needle......

Good luck with homeownership. Hope the whole process is smooth as silk for you. It won't be, but I figured I'd wish it to you.

Good Luck.. Home ownership's sometimes a PITA, but then it's also nice to sit on the porch & be the Master of your domain...<grin>

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the well-wishing. Much appreciated.:thmbsp:

But a crazy thing just happend. Went up to Home Depot for a couple items and put my clipboard with all my lists in the cart as well.
Well, I go up the isle to pick up some door stops, walk back to my cart and BAM it's gone. Look around for 15 min, talk to a manager, but couldn't find it.
Nothing in the cart had been paid for, and luckly, I don't keep anything valualble in my clipboard, so I really didn't loose anything other then time, my clipboard, and my list's of things to do for my job. Aparently, someone was walking through Home Depot, taking carts, and digging through whatever personal items may have been in the cart. I know that because a woman also was having the same problem finding her cart which also had her coat in it.
So, I am still having a good day, because of what I mentioned earlier, but my general good-will faith in strangers has slipped a tad.

Then I come back here and hear all the kind words from ya'll and I feel better.
Thanks much guys!

Congrats on the house! The sidewalk is being replaced in front of our business today, so let's just say the store traffic is a little slower than usual :nono: .

Good luck with your first home. Due to divorce, I was unable to purchase my own home until five years ago. Best thing I ever did. It's a great feeling to say
"I'm home".:thmbsp:

I'm fine, glad this damn week is over. Best of luck with the home purchase-despite the hassles, owning your own home is one of the best moves you'll ever make :thmbsp:

I'm getting ready to end the work week. Looking forward to driving home and seeing the rugrats. I'm also picking up my NEW(to us) Fisher console tomorrow. The chassis is a 69T. It'll be my first console-ation prize!

I actually had a really good day for once!

Worked on my 3 wheeler, got it running decently, but still need to do some carb work and retap one of the exhaust mounts. Minor stuff. Had a Cub Scout meeting here at the house, and generally in a pretty decent mood :)

Update:
So, on March 28, my girl and I signed papers becoming official home owners. It is a nice, 1908 built two story in a nice quiet neighborhood. The bones of the house are in good shape, including foundation, siding, roofing. Basement doesn't leak, and the attic is a big, unfinished, room. It has a lot of woodwork and there isn't a stitch of carpeting anywhere.
Needless to say, there still are a lot of projects that I will be tinkering with, like the front door, the ugly ceilings, and layers of hopefully lead free paint on some floorboards.
But, overall, it looks to be a good home.

So, that's what I have been up to.
How are you all doing today on April 13?

I'm on that road myself. Congratz.

They say you always remember your first time, and I'll remember this first time because of all the paperwork and setbacks caused by the 5,876 documents required for proof of income. PLUS, it's a co-op, so there's that angle on top. You can see what I've gone through so far at my blog. (http://tvepisodes.blogspot.com).

But to answer your question...3-day weekend! What's not to like about that? About to head to NJ for Chiller Theatre, then tomorrow the NY International Auto Show! Big Nor'Easter scheduled to hit here Sunday so I'll lay low and admire all the pix I'll have taken at the auto show.

You didn't mention whether or not it's your first home, but if it is, you're in for a wonderful time. Yes, there's going to be a lot of work, and, unfortunately, lots of unexpected expenses, but at the end of the day, you'll think..."It's ours!!!".

Congrats!!

Nice goin' Fernzee...most houses of that era have "good bones". Our little house was built in 1902 and the main ridge is still straight as an arrow--we moved in almost 19 years ago and have LOTS of sweat-equity in it now (and some REAL equity too).

Nice work...now the fun begins...through thick and thin.

Like many others...I remember the first night having pizza on all the boxes with the neighbors and friends that helped us move in--a special time.

Well...um...then there was the flea-bomb :D
