Ahhh, The old M95, one of Shure's best IMHO. I'm a thrift store addict too. You just have to look at a bunch of BPC, then, when you lest expect it.

I've heard those Sherwoods are real sleeper units. I'd like to hear one myself.

Never actually heard the M95. Will it outperform the M97xE? How about the AT 440ML(a)?

Very nice, esp. the Sherwood. I have a both the S-8900A and S-7300. Both are solidly built and, even better, they sound great. Nice "tubey" sound.

Thanks Guys , I have looked at the pictures some of you have posted and I
have to say puts my little rack to shame  But Im working on it :thmbsp:
I was wondering if any of you know anything about the speakers I have .
They are called Linear Dynamics by KLH Model PR-950S , I bought them in 1990 for $99.99 a piece . They have been excellent everyday preformers .
The Sherwood sounds as good as my 9090DB , of course not as much power.
When my Wife first heard the Sherwood she was pissed , and she lets me know every chance she gets just how much we paid for the Sansui :D
But I like my 9090DB also and when she's up and running again I have a place just for it .:thmbsp:

Sweet! Great looking set-up mrgates! And yes, the key to thrifts is patience - I didn't think I'd ever find anything in a local thrift, but slow and sure wins the race, some good stuff does show up. :)

Very nice! Very clean looking units too. I never get that lucky with thrifts either.
Then again, very few around Elkhart, IN. I should make the trip to South Bend more often and hope for the best. Again, very nice.

Nice looking system you got there! I have a Sherwood similar to yours. It's a S-8910. As someone pointed out, they are definitely sleeper units.

Micro--20 years ago the M95HE was what the M97 is now. You would get a very nice cartridge.
I'm thinking, IIRC, it is an M95 with a new stylus in the SL-23.

I agree I own both the M95HE and M97Xe. The M95 sounds just as good but a bit warmer then the m97. I had to retire the M95HE for lack of a good replacement stylus for it.

Very cool finds. :thmbsp: I've never seen anything worthwile around here. the KD-A1 is intruiging. I brought a KD-A5 back from Germany in the late 70's.
Does the the -1 have super anrs?

Hi all , Thanks for the comments

To Strawman : Nope the KDA1 is just an ordinary dolby deck , but I do like the backlit meters even though the NEEDLES are hard to see in a dimly lit room .

My dad owned the exact same Akai when I was a kid, I used to love playing around with it. I think it's still in the basement somewhere, albeit with a loose belt.

Cool, JVC did make some good decks back then, I have the A5 and a KD-3030, both have been far less trouble than any of my Pioneers.
