Picked up this LP in the trash - Moody Blues To Our Children's Children's Children last weekend. Slightly warped but plays fine. Side 2 starting with Gypsy is one of those magical album sides. Extremely melodic with complex harmonies. I love this album!

Makes me want to look for good CD remaster but it seems unlikely it can beat this original vinyl masterpiece.

Has anyone heard both vinyl and CD version?

Oh if you are just discovering the Moody Blues, you are on the threshold of a dream. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Actually, the Moodie Blues are one of my all time favorite bands. I grew up with their music. I went to see them live a couple of years ago. They still can put on quite the amazing performance. It was great to see all those gray hairs rockin' to the Moodies! It was apparent that most of the old timers in the audience grew up with them too. Wait a minute....... what did I just say?:scratch2:

TOCCC is a fine example of their magical musical and story telling abilities. I have heard it on vinyl many, many times.:music: I also have it on CD and while it is surface noise and pop free, it's just not the same. The CD will do for casual listening in the vehicle though. Try their other albums too. You may be in or a very pleasant surprise and some fine listening.

I purchased some newer CD copies out of Japan (in the mini-album format) of their first albums, but it sounded to me like the master tape was dying. SOme dropouts and a noticeable loss of the top frequencies. My early 70's Threshold/London albums sound better.

Actually, becoming a Moody Blues fan is a question of balance. Every good Moody Blues fan deserves favour, but sometimes it is the sixth or, uh, seventh sojourn before the lost chord is found.

I could have resisted but didn't :music:

How would the Moodies sound on that Dynaco amp that you built? If things have slowed down for you as they have somewhat for me, maybe we should get together again?

To answer the first question: Excellent! As for the second, it will be a few weeks before things slow down for me - off for a conference trip first thing tomorrow, then riding the avalanche to the end of the semester. But then a get -together is definitely in order! :thmbsp:

Excelent! I received a PM from a new member in Altoona. Perhaps we can have a mini-meet?

All good points...., but do you think the Long Distance Voyager can see the Other Side of Life?
I suppose these are all questions about Days Of Future Passed....

Sounds good to me - after Turkey Day, let's talk and then do a little advertising here - the Holiday Season Central PA AK Meet sounds good to me!

I grew up with the Moody Blues as well but never picked up this album. I had ISOLC, QOB and 8 track with best of for car.

Have seen them 4 times live. Once back in the 80's at Madison Square Garden - and I was not impressed. Twice in Rochester at outdoor concert at Finger Lakes and they were great MB - once was with the Rochester Philharmonic which was very special.

And last time they were at Radio City Music Hall - can't remember if that was early 2006 or into last year. No philharmonic at RCMH but they were outstanding. Some new members - young drummer to augment original guy - I think that made a big difference, and two young girls singing and playing flute, violin etc. That was the best time I had at MB Concert.

Glas to see so many fans here. Guess I have to keep my I out for better copy of the Vinyl TOCCC.

I have only seen them once. 1972 I guess, Every Good Boy Deserves Favor (favour to some :smoke: ) was the album for the tour. Kicked ass up one side and down the other.

I was broke and my Mom knowing how much into them I was at the time
went and bought me a 10th row ticket at the Oakland Coliseum and surprised me with it. Thanks Ma!

We were just talking about the Moodies at work yesterday. My daughter (11)recently inherited my parents' copy of "Days Of Future Passed" from me. Third generation listening to the same slab of vinyl. Co-worker had a similar experience with "Threshold". Saw them at the Mann Music Center in Philly in, I think, '88. Great show. I'm gonna go put on MY generation's Moodies album,"The Other Side Of Life". I'm a dweeb-I like Rabin-era Yes and Sammy-era VH too.
